There is a reason for why I carefully make every thing by hand and hand stitch my products and nourish to a perfection I am satisfied with so I can show it to the world with pride and joy. Good old company is not only my company, but my life’s philosophy and all I am about and believe in, mixed into one sweet cake baked with uttermost care and served with a big smile. is handing you strange cards and you do not really know what to do with the cards. If there is any thing my travel has taught me it is the fact that there are no wrong turns. There is only the long road or the short road. If you go through life with the believe that there are wrong turns you will miss out on many of the surprising beauties of human society that life can bring to you. I never intended to become a photographer. It just happened just like it so happened that my first job was with in carpentry and I ended up as carpenter and it just happened that my father worked with computers so I did learn about using software earlier than most and it just happened that my wife’s father is an metal worker with special knowledge that let to me learning about metal working and welding and it so happened that my travels and open mind let to me suddenly being in Bergen Norway starting a business in leather work. All of a sudden the cards that life gave me, the wrong turns I took with open mind and learned from, good times and bad times, all of them are suddenly on one hand and form a full house. A jackpot I mix with good old business virtues and good manners, spiced with top service and a smile and I can draw bits and pieces from my experience and form into this new handmade adventure that Good Old company is based on. Nothing is born out of thin air and that goes for Good Old company also, its an idea that has been developing in my head since I was a very young man, idea that was over shadowed by others until it suddenly grew into light as I drew more and more light to it from my gained experience. I have not been as exited about any thing since I started with photography and developed an image and watch it emerge in the vague light from the red bulb of the darkroom. It was magical and as I did learn more about photography I loved the magic of it until it became digital and gradually became boring as the magic and the strive and excitement of image making lottery vanished. Leather is like an old Kodachrome film. Beautiful but hell to deal with. It does not forgive any mistakes and you have to do a thorough planing before you start the journey of making a bag or simple thing like a wallet, because if you loose concentration your will certainly make mistakes an ruin your work. In leatherwork there is no undo button and no digital software that you can use to paint over your mistakes. There is no room for mistakes. This makes it hard, this makes it heaven. You must nourish each product to live in order for to create something with soul. This is why I carefully make every thing by hand and hand stitch my products to a perfection I am satisfied with to show to the world. Leatherwork is physical as well as fine work where the art of crafts mastery and knowledge of material and its response to special treatments show through the work and sets its mark on it. I find this both challenging and exciting as I head along this new road to master this medium and hopefully bring you leather products of highest quality with pleasing design and joy to carry, not only in your daily life but trough generations to come.
