C.P. COMPANY

C.P. COMPANY The Original Italian Sportswear brand since 1971, formerly known as Chester Perry. Company. A C.P. Company label.

In 1975 Massimo Osti, a young graphic designer from Bologna who would go on to be recognized as the “godfather of urban sportswear”, changed the name of his brand Chester Perry, famous for its screen printed t-shirts, to C.P. This drier, more mature name inaugurated one of the most explosive and influential bursts of creativity in the history of modern Italian fashion and would quickly make C.P. C

ompany the essential brand of choice for Italian intellectuals and artists. Over the next 20 years - until he left the brand in 1994 - Massimo Osti would combine archival research into the origins of functional menswear (his 35 000 piece archive of vintage military, work and sportswear was amongst the largest in the world) with unparalleled Italian fabric innovation, most notably of all the garment dyeing technique, to invent an entirely new genre of menswear. Company field jacket, carpenter’s jacket, traditional London trench or riding coat would, at first glance, appear almost identical to its original vintage source of inspiration, but a closer inspection revealed that every last detail, from the way the fabric had been waterproofed, to it shades of khaki or brown, to the vegetal ivory used on the buttons or the lenses inserted in its hood, had been obsessively tweaked using cutting-edge manufacturing techniques. The result was a piece of clothing which immediately felt comfortable and easy-to-wear, like you’d always owned it, which allowed you to move seamlessly and discretely across the sprawling city, without drawing excessive attention to yourself, , but whose details communicated – to those sensitive enough to notice them – a non-conformist, even ironic, attitude to the traditional canons of menswear. This hybridization of functional menswear and Italian fabric innovation is the origin of C.P. Company (and the origin of the entire school of Italian urban sportswear) and still today remains the basis of every piece of clothing to carry the C.P.

Archive-Inspired Tennis Kit | Night Hard Court

The night atmosphere of New York’s hard courts switches to a second visual identity for Mattia Bellucci.

Derived from an aerial photograph and reproduced through sublimation printing, the polo graphic becomes an abstract pattern of white dots set against a black background.

A direct reference to the aerial city-view graphics that became a recurring motif in C.P. Company collections throughout the 1980s and 1990s.

Together, the two polos and matching shorts bridge on-court functionality and everyday wear, reflecting C.P. Company’s “Sportswear, Not For Playing” philosophy.

Archive-Inspired Tennis Kit | Day Hard Court

Late summer in New York. A new kit for Mattia Bellucci’s hard-court daytime sessions.

The polo graphic originates from an archival four-colour print, enlarged to a microscopic scale and reproduced through sublimation.

Part of C.P. Company’s experimentation since the 1970s, four-colour printing became one of the brand’s defining visual tools. First explored by Massimo Osti through different treatments, it allowed images to be manipulated and reworked directly onto garments.

The kit is available exclusively at cpcompany.com and selected flagship stores.

Alessi - C.P. Company

The first collaboration stemmed from a mutual commitment to craftsmanship, technical innovation, and material transformation.

Reinterpreted in a limited edition of 999 numbered pieces, Alessi’s 9090 espresso coffee maker takes shape through multiple manufacturing and finishing stages, from raw stainless steel to its final black sandblasted finish.

The garment dyed Nylon B overshirt follows a similarly process-led path, moving from archival reference and pattern development to colour research and garment dyeing.

Alessi - C.P. Company

For both Italian brands, the factory is where concepts are tested and developed into physical forms.
The collaboration reinterprets Alessi’s 9090 espresso coffee maker, produced in a limited edition of 999 numbered pieces, with the Arran tray, double-wall cups, and coffee sets.
Crafted in stainless steel and finished with a black PVD (Physical Vapour Deposition) coating, each object changes with use, gradually developing tonal variations and a patina of its own.

The collection is available exclusively on cpcompany.com and in flagship stores.

For Phillip, Victor, Bijan and Kyme, the chess tables of Washington Square Park are part of a weekly ritual.

A place where games become occasions to meet and exchange stories, from discussions about the perfect move to recollections of a different New York, keeping a long-standing local tradition alive.

Officially recognised as a mind sport, chess is a discipline where victory depends on concentration, mental preparation and decision-making rather than physical performance.

Existing somewhere between leisure and competition, chess reflects C.P. Company’s “Sportswear, Not For Playing In” philosophy, which looks at the role of sport beyond the traditional playing field.

Around the Chess Ring, the new FW026 Twill outerwear and the Mille Jacket in Micro Kei echo a story shaped over decades.

“Wanna Play?”: Inside New York’s Chess Culture

Washington Square Park’s chess tables are one of New York’s best-known public meeting places and a cultural institution of the Village.

Located in the park’s southwest corner, the so-called “Chess Ring”, with its 15 permanent stone tables, is a landmark within the city’s chess culture during the 1960s and 1970s.

Over the decades, the tables of the Chess Ring have brought together masters, legendary figures such as Bobby Fischer, NYU students, local regulars, and visitors passing through the city. For many players, the park has long been a place to learn, exchange experiences, and pass knowledge of the game from one generation to the next.

Today, the same black-and-white boards that have hosted countless players set the scene for the new Twill outerwear and the Mille Jacket in Micro Kei from the Fall/Winter 026 collection.

Elevated Wardrobing: Twill | FW026

The balance between everyday elegance and functional sportswear defines the new C.P. Company’s outerwear.

The Explorer Jacket, fishtail parka and hooded jacket are crafted in nylon twill, a heavy-duty left-hand weave made from two different nylon Taslan yarns and equipped with detachable down linings.

The cotton-like hand and garment-dyed finish soften the fabric texture, giving a more understated feel.

Bi-Face Fabric Structure

The reversible jacket features a crystalline nylon mesh on the exterior, marked by the iconic Lens and a concealable hood. On the inner face, a warp-knit matte nylon felt with a crinkled effect, crossed by polyurethane micro-perforations.

Through garment dyeing, where the needle pierces the polyurethane during assembly, colour penetrates more intensely, creating chromatic variations along the seams.

Available at cpcompany.com and in flagship stores.
