Over a century of maritime heritage carried by the wind. Designed by Scottish naval architect William Fife III and launched in 1909, Tuiga is a masterpiece of classic yacht design. “The Greatest Playwright of His Generation”. This is how New York Magazine described Sam Shepard, a figure whose talent reached far beyond the written page.

After arriving in New York in 1963, Shepard became part of a remarkable cultural scene. He lived at the Chelsea Hotel, wrote plays such as “True West” and “Fool for Love”, played drums in a rock band, and shared chapters of his life with Patti Smith and Joni Mitchell. He later joined Bob Dylan’s “Rolling Thunder Revue”, combining music, writing, and performance in a way that was entirely his own.

Cinema opened yet another chapter. While acting in Terrence Malick’s “Days of Heaven”, Shepard was simultaneously writing “Zabriskie Point” for Michelangelo Antonioni, moving between acting and screenwriting at the highest level. He later earned an Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of legendary test pilot Chuck Yeager in “The Right Stuff”.

From the American stage to some of the defining films and cultural circles of his era, Shepard belonged to a rare breed: impossible to categorize, impossible to imitate.

Introducing the tenth chapter of L.G.R’s Heroes, a tribute to those who have lived beyond convention and left an unmistakable mark on culture. L.G.R is inspired by Sam Shepard, a playwright, actor, screenwriter, musician, and restless spirit whose life often seemed as extraordinary as the characters he created.

From his early years as a rancher and rodeo rider to the stages of New York and the landscapes of American cinema, Shepard followed no single path. A Pulitzer Prize-winning writer and the screenwriter of “Paris, Texas”, he moved effortlessly between theatre and film, bringing the same rawness and authenticity to everything he touched.

Always searching, always moving, Shepard lived with the freedom of someone who refused to be defined by one place, one medium, or one role. He didn’t simply write about adventure. He lived it.

This is Sam. This is greatness, redefined.
