I watched this knit come to life
Roots and Wings
Roots represent our foundations, the origins we come from. They symbolize our connection to the past, to family, and to the land. It is precisely from the people who brought us into the world and from the earth that nourished us that we take flight, growing wings and becoming something different, something unique.
The Spring | Summer 2025 ROOTS and WINGS collection draws inspiration from the past and from the traditional materials of our Tuscan land. Raffia, a natural fiber valued for its resilience in weaving techniques such as baskets and chair caning, and a key material in the Florentine hat-making tradition, is used here in an unconventional way.
We created little jackets and dresses in pure raffia, woven diagonally on the loom; we intertwined it with crêpe cottons to form fringes; we developed jacquards, keeping it strictly on the outside so as not to disturb the body with its rustic hand; and we reduced it to a raw, earthy detail in super-soft viscose garments.
We explored lace stitches inspired by the Italian Venetian tradition, reinterpreting them in a contemporary way by deconstructing double fabrics with openwork surfaces and ultra-light plain-knit interiors in superfine cotton, to soften transparency while preserving lightness.
The cottons are extremely light with a crêpe hand; the linen-silk blends are essential and clean; the stretch viscoses are compact and smooth. The volumes are soft, with A-line silhouettes or ruffles that evoke wings.
The colors are natural tones: milky whites, creams, lime, shades of beige and camel, along with earth tones ranging from bronze to ebony.
For a look that belongs to the here and now, yet carries within it both past and future. The result of all we have lived and all we are yet to live. Celebrating our ROOTS while growing our WINGS.
