Art, design and creativity Ciao! After years of collecting beautiful fabrics for my own use, I began to design them myself.

I’m Maria Elena Coco, an Italian surface designer based in Gorizia, Italy, graduated in Interior Design from Florence University. The most satisfying side of this work is seeing designs come to life on everyday products and I was so enthusiastic about this, that I decided to make a career out of it. Strongly inspired by the beauty of nature around us, I love playing with colors and shapes, exploring new styles and techniques, improving my skills day after day.

✨🍄 So happy to be part of this Limited Edition Design Contest with .coil! With autumn right around the corner, I felt this mushroom toile theme would be the absolute perfect fit for this edition.

From a crisp, sunlit walk right after the late-summer rains to the drawing board. 🌲✨

When the forest floor came alive with mushrooms under the warm autumn sun, I knew I had to turn it into a design for the next Spoonflower | wallpaper, fabric + home decor challenge. This design bridges the charm of classic alpine toile de jouy with a touch of quiet forest mystery.

🍄 FUN FACT: Did you know that the Shaggy Ink Cap (Coprinus comatus, featured in the second slide) literally melts into black ink as it matures? Nature's own little magic trick right there on the forest floor.

Whether you love traditional rustic decor or want something with a subtle hint of woodland storytelling, this pattern feels right at home in a cozy mountain cabin or an eclectic modern space.

Sun-bleached hues and shifting geometry. I’ve been waiting to show you how this new faded ikat pattern looks in a real space, the Cerulean Blue feels just like a breath of fresh sea air on raw linen texture.

The inspiration for "Hothouse Florals" came while thinking back to a visit to the historic Schönbrunn Greenhouse in Vienna. ✨ I wanted to capture that moment of pure magic with this lush tropical escape 🌺

⛵Who wants to go sailing? 🙋‍♀️
The weather is warming and I'm looking forward to spending as much time as possible by the sea!🌊
I made this design for the Modern Nautical Design Challenge thinking of my younger days, when I was so lucky to take some boat trips. I once took a ride to Venice aboard a 1913 sailing ship! It was such an amazing experience 🤩
