For their final week at HILOS, Sarah and Elliott dial in their designs and watch their ideas move into final 3D-printed form.

Thanks to Bambu Lab both residents also leave with their own 3D printer to keep experimenting and bringing new ideas to life.

From file to final print, the details held.

Mitch Kalungi’s elongated proportions, embossed symbols and sculptural details were translated into precise 3D geometry without losing the character of the original design.

Mitch Kalungi designed a shoe rich with symbolism, surface detail, and sculptural form. Using HILOS, he was able to carry that vision from sketch to runway without losing what made it matter.

This week our Designer In Residence was all about creative exchange.

Special guest designers Infinant James (Creative Director/Technologist) and Zumar Ebron (Zumar 🖐🏾) of Brooklyn’s Th4nks For Nothing joined Sarah and Elliott at HILOS HQ, bringing their perspective on 3D printing, footwear, and creative technology into the residency.
