Most chenille you see in finished textiles runs through the weft. The yarn travels horizontally, tensions are low, the pile holds.

Warp chenille is a different story. The yarn carries vertical loom tension across metres of fabric without losing pile, breaking, or varying - a technical discipline that takes years to master.

Three variables, narrow tolerances: core tension, pile retention, vertical consistency. A yarn that rewards patience.

A century before the term "circular economy" existed, Prato had a word for the same idea: stracciaiolo - the one who gathered discarded textiles and returned them to fibre.

That practice built the most regenerative textile district in Europe. Lonfil was founded here in 1977.

The chenille we industrialised, the recycled fibres we work with today, come out of a culture that has always understood material as something to take apart and re-author.
