"Hello,
I write from the "deep north" after a wonderful journey to discover (for me) Basilicata. I did not know this region and this year I decided to deepen my knowledge. Of all the regions I have visited it is certainly the most surprising. In my weeks of stay I tried to visit as many places as possible and the variety of landscapes that this region offers leaves its mark.
From the "Lucanian Dolomites" to the Ionian beaches, a succession of different and fascinating landscapes, from the “Valley of the Badlands " to the endless plains, truly wonderful. The villages set with towers and fortresses are enchanting, I believe that if Carlo Levi, who was in confinement in Basilicata, asked to be buried in Aliano, the reason is precisely in the beauty of the landscape, of the places and in the quiet affability and discreet of the Lucanians.
The richness of the cultural heritage, which does not stop only at the vestiges of Magna Graecia, but which offers history and charm starting from the medieval villages, up to the famous Sassi of Matera and the stupendous abbeys and rock churches hidden in the countryside and surprising. The very good food, with real flavors and impeccable quality of raw materials, the neatness and cleanliness that makes one think of Switzerland and certainly not the idea of a sloppy South that many (in the north) erroneously tend to attribute to the southern regions. I think Basilicata deserves to be better known, because it really deserves it, it is a beautiful land and it has remained in my heart. I also wanted to say this to express my gratitude for all that I have received such as hospitality, kindness, culture and much more. I really hope to return because it has remained in my heart. Greetings to Basilicata and its inhabitants who never stop being as they are, kind, hardworking and tenacious ".
