UPDATE: The Missing Work

Weeks ago, I shared that one of my artworks had gone missing after being left in the care of someone I trusted—an artist. Over time, I was passed from him to his sister, and then from his sister to his brother, all in an effort to recover a single artwork. For years, I have been asking for this piece to be returned, and on several occasions I requested simple confirmation of its condition, photos, proof that the work was safe, but these requests were repeatedly refused. This week, I made arrangements to retrieve the work in Kingston; after traveling and coordinating, I was redirected, delayed, and ultimately left without the piece. Today, after further effort, the artwork was finally released, but what followed is deeply disturbing. The work was not handled with care and was reportedly thrown from a vehicle onto the ground; by the time it was recovered, the surface had been visibly damaged and smudged, with critical areas of the painting compromised. After years of being withheld, the work was returned in a destroyed state. This is not how art is treated. This is not how trust is handled. I am documenting everything and proceeding carefully and responsibly, but let it be known: this is the vehicle that arrived with the artwork, and the piece was left on the ground outside in the rain after years of being withheld and after multiple requests to confirm its condition were ignored. This is how the work was returned. Documentation continues. This situation has escalated beyond a missing artwork, and further action will follow.

The rainbow bow tie, delicately rendered, interrupts the monochrome restraint suggesting individuality caught within expectation.

The composition removes external context, forcing attention onto the internal state of the subject. There is no church, no street—only the weight of decision lingering in the boy’s posture. The faintly indicated pocket, marked and unsettled, becomes symbolic: a place of holding, taking, and concealing.

Deans reframes wrongdoing not as action, but as origin where conscience first begins to negotiate with desire.

In Borrowed Faith (Study), silence carries the narrative. What is unseen becomes more significant than what is shown.

Veil of the Body

A quiet study of intimacy and concealment, Veil of the Body explores the tension between exposure and privacy through the delicate form of a G-string rendered in soft graphite. Draped and folded like fabric holding memory, the garment becomes more than an object, it transforms into a subtle extension of the body it once embraced. Floral motifs and gentle shading suggest traces of presence, as if the figure lingers just beyond view.

The composition resists direct revelation, instead inviting the viewer to navigate suggestion, contour, and absence. In this space between what is seen and what is implied, the work speaks to vulnerability, sensuality, and the quiet poetry of personal adornment.
