A Significant Milestone for Jordan’s Garment and Textile Industry Advancing Decent Work, Strengthening Labour Governance, and Enhancing Global Competitiveness.
The Jordan Garment & Textile Exporters Association (JGATE) welcomes the signing of a landmark agreement between the Government of Jordan, represented by the Ministry of Labour, and the International Labour Organization (ILO), marking an important milestone in the continued development of Jordan’s garment and textile sector.
The agreement, signed on 19 October 2026, launches the “Better Work and Labour Governance to Support Jordan’s Garment Sector” project, establishing a strategic framework to strengthen labour standards, enhance workers’ rights, improve factory compliance, and reinforce the sector’s long-term sustainability and competitiveness.
This initiative represents a major step toward advancing responsible manufacturing through stronger labour governance, fair recruitment practices, effective grievance mechanisms, improved worker support services, and enhanced social dialogue among government, employers, and workers.
For JGATE, this milestone reflects an important shared vision: a globally competitive garment industry built on decent work, responsible business practices, and strong institutional partnerships.
As the voice of Jordan’s garment and textile exporters, JGATE remains committed to supporting the successful implementation of this initiative, working alongside the Ministry of Labour, the ILO, JCI, industry partners, and workers’ representatives to translate these commitments into meaningful and sustainable progress.
We commend the Government of Jordan and the ILO for this important achievement, which further reinforces Jordan’s commitment to international labour standards and its position as a reliable, responsible, and competitive global sourcing destination.
A stronger industry. Better working conditions. Greater global confidence.
