For all those years, I yearned to dig deep within myself, hoping to create and share something nice, something unique. The name is a mix of the Portuguese word "PATUÁ" (meaning amulet) with the Japanese word "WA"(和 - meaning Japanese style): Japanese spirit combined with Brazilian passion. The pieces I fabricate are unique and individual, detailed with personal care as well as precision. I produce these lovely pieces one by one, paying attention to the particular details required by the different fabrics and materials I weave together. And the most important thing: the pieces are made by me--definitely (and defiantly) a human being, who uses his hands to create, a man who loves, who sheds his tears sometimes, and who laughs with joy. He lives his "everyday" life, grateful to have his craft. The intention is to create a simple and unique item which provides a feeling of uniqueness for those wearing it, not only in the final look, but mainly in the attitude, the way you wish to express yourself in this world. Nasci no Brasil, filho de pai japonês com mãe italiana. Há mais de 20 anos, recém graduado em faculdade de música, me mudei para o Japão, onde vivo a um pouco mais que metade da minha vida. Aqui, como muitos, fiz de tudo um pouco, de pedreiro e carpinteiro a profissional na área de moda, passando por operário, professor de piano, desempregado... desesperado...
Em todos esses anos, o desejo de criar algo meu, que pudesse ser passado adiante sempre existiu. Daí nasceu Patuwá, a mistura de nosso patuá brasileiro, o amuleto, combinado com o ideograma WA(和) cujo um dos significados é "estilo japonês/tradicional japonês". O espírito japonês aliado à paixão brasileira. São peças elaboradas com muito carinho, feitas uma a uma, dando muita atenção aos detalhes. O mais importante: são peças feitas por um ser humano que usa suas mãos para criar, que ama, que chora, que ri à beça e que vive o "todo dia" satisfeito por ter um ofício. A intenção é criar um item simples, único e original que dê um diferencial a quem usa, não só no visual, mas principalmente na atitude, na maneira de se expressar ao mundo.
