【西陣に伝わる伝統技法 引箔】
西陣の織物職人たちは、伝統的な織物に更に豪華さを吹き込む技術、引箔を生み出しました。染色された糸と、金、銀、プラチナで装飾された和紙から作られる薄くて平たい箔糸を織り交ぜ「引箔」を織る事で、光を纏ったような布地を生み出します。この織り方により、布に深みを与え、見る角度によって異なる表情を見せます。
手仕事により作られる一点ものの模様引箔は、その製作過程で色彩豊かな模様が施され、織物に独自の個性を与えます。作り手は、細部にまでこだわり、紙の継ぎ目が見えないように緻密に作業を行います。また、織り上げる柄は、織り手の技術と集中力が試される作業であり、正確な順序で織り込まれなければ、望んだデザインを実現することはできません。
楽芸工房 によって特別に製作された「真珠粉本銀箔模様引箔」を使い、手機とシャットル力織機を用いて、高速織機では表現できない質感を持つ絹織物を創り出します。

[The Traditional Technique of Hikihaku Passed Down in Nishijin]

The weavers of Nishijin have developed a technique called Hikihaku, which adds a touch of luxury to traditional textiles. By interweaving pre-dyed yarn with flat, thin foil threads made from Japanese paper decorated with gold, silver, or platinum, they create fabrics that seem to be wrapped in light. This weaving method gives the fabric depth and varying expressions depending on the viewing angle.
The one-of-a-kind patterned Hikihaku, crafted by hand, is adorned with colourful patterns during its creation, giving the textile its unique identity. The artisans work meticulously to ensure that the joints between papers are invisible, and the patterns woven require the weaver’s skill and concentration, as the correct sequence is essential to achieve the desired design.
Using the ‘Pearl Powder Genuine Silver Foil Pattern Hikihaku’ specially produced by Rakugei Workshop, we create silk textiles with a texture that cannot be replicated by high-speed looms, using both hand looms and shuttle power looms.
