[メディア掲載]昨年取材していただいた『京の工芸ものがたり3』が発刊されました。84~89ページに掲載していただいています。
工芸界の立派な先輩方や、同世代で活躍されている方々と並んで、自分の名前が載っていることが嬉しいです。
京都の工芸に携わる職人や作家、工房にスポットを当て、インタビューを通して、ものづくりの背景にある人々の想いや願いを紹介した一冊です。
文章も美しく、読み心地がいいので、自分のページだけでなく、ほかの職人さんや作家さんのお話まで思わず読み進めてしまいます。

Last year, I had the honor of being interviewed for Kyoto Crafts Stories Vol. 3, which has now been published. I am featured on pages 84–89.

It is truly an honor to see my name alongside distinguished master artisans and talented creators of my generation.

This book shines a spotlight on the artisans, artists, and workshops that sustain Kyoto's rich craft traditions. Through a series of interviews, it introduces not only their work but also the passion, values, and aspirations behind their craftsmanship.

The writing is beautifully composed and engaging, and I found myself reading far beyond my own pages, eager to learn the stories of the other featured artisans and artists.

The book wonderfully captures each person's character while also reflecting the spirit of craftsmanship in contemporary Kyoto. It is an inspiring and fascinating read.

作品展前半が無事終了し、今日から折り返しになりました。
お天気にも恵まれた心地の良い会期になって良かったです。
初日には朝一番から門川前京都市長がお着物に自転車で お越しくださり変わらぬお姿に元気をいただきました。

新しく制作したバラのシリーズも大変好評で、
気合いを入れて作ってよかったです。

新作のえんどうの帯も早速お嫁入りが決まりました。
試行錯誤しながら新しい配色や構成に挑戦したことが、 お客様の心に届いたのでしょうか。
見えない苦労であっても、 見る人にはわかるのだと改めて感じました。
 本日は、たくさん人が来られる予定です。 皆さまにお目にかかれるのが楽しみです。

制作していた薔薇の訪問着も、無事に完成しました。

The rose kimono I’ve been working on is finally complete.
This video shows the final stage—adding the finishing colors.

Tomorrow is the exhibition setup, so today has been a busy day of preparation.

作品展に出品する、バラの訪問着の
葉の部分を染色しているところです。

蝋を使った「堰出し友禅」という技法を用い、
あらかじめ防染した輪郭の内側に染料を差し、
重なり合う葉の姿をシルエット風に表現していきます。

糸目友禅の輪郭を際立たせる表現とは異なり、
やわらかく背景に馴染むような表情が特徴です。

何とか目処が立ってきて、ほっとしています。
作品展でご覧いただけるのが楽しみです。

I am currently dyeing the leaf sections of a rose-themed houmongi that will be exhibited in the upcoming show.

Using a technique called sekidashi yuzen, which involves wax resist, I apply dye within pre-resisted outlines to express overlapping leaves in a soft, silhouette-like manner.

Unlike itome yuzen, which emphasizes crisp outlines, this technique creates a gentle expression that blends softly into the background.

I am relieved that the work is finally coming together.
I look forward to sharing it with you at the exhibition.

霧吹きを使い、細かな水のにじみやゆらぎを活かして、�自然なグラデーションを表現していきます。

作品展も近づいてきましたが、

I’m working on the gradation dyeing of a houmongi (formal kimono),
featuring roses (Pierre de Ronsard), for my upcoming exhibition.

Using a spray bottle, I layer fine droplets of water,
embracing the natural blurring and subtle variations
to create a soft, organic gradient.
This gentle texture can only be achieved by building up the dye little by little.

The exhibition is almost here…
I hope I’ll finish in time :)

作品展に向けて、苔寺の庭をモチーフにした訪問着を制作しています。
苔のやわらかな表情や奥行きを出すために、
ダンマル液を使った「霧雨かすり」という技法で
染色しているところです。

手間がかかるわりに、
仕上がりは控えめで、さりげないものですが、
その分、細かな違いを自然に表現できるのが、
この技法の魅力です。

昔から折にふれて使ってきた、
好きな技法のひとつです。

※ダンマル液
木の樹脂（ダンマル）を揮発油で溶かしたもの。
蝋のように完全には染料を止めず、
描いた部分にほんのり色がにじむことで、
輪郭がやわらかく仕上がります。
筆のかすれや濃淡など、手描きならではの表情が生まれます。

In preparation for the exhibition,
I am creating a houmongi inspired by the garden of a moss temple.

To bring out the soft textures and depth of the moss,
I am dyeing the fabric using a technique called “Kirisame Kasuri” (drizzle kasuri),
with a damar solution.

It is a labor-intensive process,
yet the result is quiet and understated.
That subtlety allows delicate variations to emerge naturally—
one of the qualities I value most in this technique.

It is one of my favorite methods,
which I have returned to time and again over the years.

About damar solution
A natural resin (damar) dissolved in solvent.
Unlike wax, it does not completely resist the dye;
instead, it allows a gentle seep of color into the painted areas,
softening the outlines.
The brushstrokes, slight blurs, and tonal variations remain visible,
creating a warmth unique to hand-dyeing.

ご注文いただいた八重桜の訪問着の地色を染めています。
今回は、霞の部分を小刷毛を使ったぼかし染めで表現しています。
春らしい色を染めていると、気分も温かくなりますね。
外はまだまだとっても寒いですが、笑。

3月のお茶事にご着用予定とのことで、
楽しみにしてくださっているのがとても嬉しいです。

I am currently dyeing the base color of the Yaezakura homongi you ordered.
This time, the misty areas are expressed using a soft gradation technique with a small brush.
Working with spring-like colors makes me feel warm as well.
Although it is still very cold outside, haha.
