The beauty of bamboo forests workshop.

At we will hosting the first ever eating meditation experience.

Living in a fast pace environment we tend to take things around us for granted.
In this event guests will have an opportunity to slow down , look deeper within the actions we do on a day to day like eating.

A tea specialist will bring high grade tea and instruct the guests how to enjoy the tea to the best quality.

The chef of PADMA will prepare a chakra opening set meal for the guests that contains all organic , local and in season foods that will heal the body.

Finally ending the experience with a writing meditation to bring things full circle.

Those who want to look within , restore balance in their day to day , or have an interests in high quality grade food this event is for you !

SHASHIN - TRANSFERRING THE MIND

SHASHIN is based off the Buddhist practice called SHAKYO which is the tracing of Buddhist sutras.

It’s a practice to center the mind and rebalance one’s senses.
HINOMARU has teamed up with to create SHASHIN which is a new version of SHAKYO for the modern person to realign their mind to the present moment.

KIRIMURA SAN

Raised in a family that runs a temple , Kirimura san was fated to be a a monk. Studying Shingon Buddhism , Kirimura san has been living as a monk for over 25 years.
Over this time he has been building his calligraphy skills by creating his own goshuin. (Temple signature received after performing an ascetic practice.)
Carving out his own stamps and applying Buddhist wise concepts to the goshuin, he is providing guest with customized goshuin as well as omamori (protection amulet).

MIYA DAIKU
MAEDA SAN
Miya Daiku are the carpenters for spiritual architecture such as temples and shrines.

Japanese architecture is known for the non use of nails.

The skills of the MIYA DAIKU have been passed down to Maeda san where he helps to make the floats called “DANJIRI” for the famous festivals in Osaka.

HINOMARU works with Maeda san to bring guests the opportunity to learn the spiritual aesthetic of carpentry as well as a deeper understanding into Japanese architecture.

MIYA DAIKU, THE SPIRITUAL CARPENTER
Maeda san, a Japanese carpenter that works on Japanese spiritual architecture a.k.a a “miya daiku”
is now sharing with the public his skills he learned over the 20 years he has been forging his technique.

Guests will have the opportunity to learn how to carve one’s own wooden craft by Maeda san’s instruction.

After finishing the craft the guests will share a lunch with the craftsman and have an opportunity to learn more in depth about the craftsman and his crafts.

To ensure the craftsman and the guests have the ability to communicate on a deeper level , Zane Johnson, the curator of the experience will translate the necessary translations to keep the experience flowing for all parties involved.

The event was curated to inspire the feeling of gratitude in the participants.

At Osaka’s Kotoku-Ji temple , experience full immersion into Japanese Buddhism by participating in hands on activities
connected to the essence of Japanese culture.

1. AJIKAN- A meditation method originating from Mikkyo Buddhism focusing on the Sanskrit letter A meaning the beginning of all things.
2. SHUJI - The practice of letter writing. How to write the Sanskrit letter A will be taught by the head monk of Kotoku-ji.
3. SHA BUTSU- Tracing the image of Buddha. The image of Buddha used for the activity will be the Buddha worshipped at Kotoku-ji.
*Matcha and Japanese sweets will also be provided for the event.
*Participants after the experience will also receive an exclusive GOSHUIN (a temple’s signature) only available to those who participate.

An interactive experience to understand Japanese culture on a deeper level.

-Communicate with the head monk of the temple and get a deeper insight into Buddhism.

KINTSUGI WORKSHOP
“THE ART OF EMBRACING IMPERFECTION”
DATE : OCTOBER 29TH

Instead of throwing away an item, the Japanese philosophy of Kintsugi is to highlight the imperfections or the events of an object’s life.

In this workshop you will get a hands on experience with a devoted Kintsugi craftsman who will teach you the process of how to repair objects.

This will not be a watch only experience , the participants and the craftsman will communicate with each other through the art form of Kintsugi. Participants will have the opportunity to get a deeper understanding of the art form by performing each step of the process led by the Kintsugi craftsman of the event.

This workshop is a full immersion experience which will be set in an intimate environment in order to maintain the experience’s true value.

Only 10 Participants will be accepted to join this full immersion experience.
