Scenic Route // Flinders Ranges
-
SWE-BNE-OOL-ADL-FLINDERS. The journey to the Flinders Ranges was a long one, especially for . He flew from Sweden, with a 9 hour layover in Dubai, landed in Brisbane at 6am, then straight down to the Gold Coast to the HQ, lunch at and then straight into another flight down to Adelaide.

The next morning we picked up the R12 G/S’ and our support rig and started heading north into the Australian outback, taking dirt roads wherever we could.

The roads were epic… but the best was yet to come.

“When life throws you a rainy day, play in the puddles”

We thought our first full day in the Flinders Ranges would be a classic Australian outback scene; red dirt, heaps of dust and nothing green in sight.

Instead… it was this.

We made the most of it, and feel incredibly lucky to have experienced Flinders in conditions that may not be seen again for decades.

Razorback Lookout // Terra Australis

What better way to introduce you to the Flinders Ranges than with one of the most photographed stretches of road in the entire region: Razorback Lookout.

We usually try to steer clear of tourist hotspots and places that have already been shot a thousand times, but we couldn’t resist this one. And let us tell you, it absolutely lives up to the hype.

Surrounded by some of the oldest mountain ranges on earth, Razorback Lookout is the crown jewel of Bunyeroo Road, which also happens to be one of our favourite roads from the entire trip. More on that later.

The lookout sits along a stretch of road that can only be described as a motorcycle rollercoaster, following the ridgeline through a series of perfect sweeping corners and incredible scenery. We’d seen plenty of photos before visiting, but nothing quite prepares you for the experience of actually riding it.

Yes, it’s a tourist spot. But it’s worth every second of your time and was an absolute blast to ride (multiple times).

Throwback to our ride through Tasmania. This particular road is called ‘99 Bends’ - not sure if there’s exactly 99 bends… but we can tell you that it’s one of the best roads in Australia!
