Happy World Bicycle Day 🚲...♡
Today, I’m reflecting on how one decision, to get on a bicycle, changed the trajectory of my life.
What started as a personal pursuit became so much more.
Cycling has shaped my career, improved my health and wellbeing, introduced me to lifelong friendships, and connected me to incredible communities of women who continue to inspire me every day.
As an African woman in sports cycling, I have experienced firsthand the power of representation. Building a business around cycling and advocating for greater inclusion in the sport has shown me that when women take up space, whether on the road, on the trails, or in leadership, we create opportunities not only for ourselves but for others who follow.
Cycling has taught me resilience, confidence, independence, and the joy of freedom. It has also strengthened my commitment to promoting sustainable mobility and supporting initiatives that offer more accessible spaces for women and girls to ride, thrive, and belong.
To every woman who has ever considered taking up cycling: your journey doesn't have to start with a race, a goal, or a destination. It can begin with a single ride.
You may be surprised by where those two wheels can take you.
Here's to the women who ride, lead, advocate, and inspire. May we continue to break barriers and create pathways for the next generation.
Who knew a bicycle could be such a powerful vehicle for change?
