SHYRDAK BEASTS ❤️‍🔥🐅
Shyrdak is a traditional Kyrgyz felt rug made by hand using a variety of techniques. The process of making a Shyrdak involves repeatedly wetting, beating, and drying the felt until it becomes dense and durable. Shyrdaks are used as floor coverings, wall hangings, and decorative elements in homes. Shyrdaks are made from the wool of sheep, goats, or camels, and the ornamental elements on the rugs are often inspired by the natural surroundings of Kyrgyzstan, including mountains, rivers, and flora. Shyrdaks are an important part of Kyrgyz culture and are often given as gifts to mark special occasions.

By combining efforts in design, QOORCHAQ and the streetwear brand ILGERI CARTEL have taken a modern approach to the traditional shyrdak. The Shyrdak Beasts collection is inspired by the traditional tibetan rug in combination with traditional Kyrgyz ornaments. This effort aims to bring awareness to the traditional craft of shyrdak by updating its design with a modern approach.
