Korean summer survival tip: 🥵🔥🥣

In Korea, the three hottest days of summer are called Boknal (복날):

2026 Boknal dates:
☀️ Chobok — July 15
☀️ Jungbok — July 25
☀️ Malbok — August 14

The dates change every year, but the tradition remains the same: Koreans enjoy nourishing foods to recharge during the intense summer heat.
(The dates are based on the Korean luna year)

The most iconic Boknal dish is Samgyetang, a whole chicken soup made with glutinous rice, garlic, jujube, and ginseng. Other popular choices include baeksuk, grilled eel, duck dishes, galbitang, chueotang, and abalone.

This tradition is connected to “Iyeol Chiyeol” (이열치열): fighting heat with heat. 🔥

Would you eat hot chicken soup on the hottest day of summer, or would you choose cold noodles instead? 👀Naengmyeon & Kongguksu is a great option to cool off the hot korean summer.
