We are excited to announce that three female Lao artists have been selected to join the HER PATH program.

Their journey begins with cultural research and artistic development across Laos, followed by regional travel to Thailand, Vietnam, or Cambodia for professional exposure, networking, and exchange with artists and cultural organizations.

ROOTS: Dialogue - Thank You for Walking This Journey With Us 🌿

As the doors close on ROOTS: Dialogue (ການສົນທະນາແຫ່ງຮາກເງົາ), we want to pause and say thank you to every artisan, every visitor, and every partner who made this project come alive.

Over the past several months, this project carried us from the deep forests of Ban Kobong, Nakai District, to the weaving communities of Ban Nayang and Ban Napun in Vientiane Province, documenting and celebrating the bamboo and rattan craftsmanship passed down through generations.

🧵 31 artisans engaged across 3 communities (77% women)
🎨 3 featured artists translating tradition into contemporary art
👥 45 total participants in the project
🖼️ 1,539 exhibition visitors and 134 students reached, over 1,670 people in total
👶 311 children among our visitors, the next generation already connecting with their roots
📱 44 social media posts, 9,084 likes, 460 shares, and 12,079 video views
🤝 Honoured by the presence of senior government and diplomatic guests at our opening, including H.E. Mrs. Dalany Phommavongsa, Deputy Minister of Culture, and H.E. Madame Bénédicte Deschamps, French Ambassador to Laos

This project was made possible with the support of the METIS Endowment Fund, the Lao Handicraft Association, and the Department of Heritage, and most of all, the artisans of Ban Kobong, Ban Nayang, and Ban Napun, who welcomed us into their homes and shared their craft, their stories, and their roots.

ROOTS: Dialogue may be ending as an exhibition, but the conversation it started, between tradition and innovation, between people and the land that sustains them, continues.
