Michael Jordan strapped up the most unique pair of his signature sneakers for the 1992-93 season, literally. The Air Jordan 8 is the only model to feature crossover straps atop the laces. His Airness scored his 20,000th point in the Jordan 8 while locking in a seventh-straight scoring title. Jordan also led the Bulls to their first “Three-Peat” while wearing the 8, just before retiring suddenly in October of 1993.

The Air Jordan 5 hit shelves in 1990, maintaining the mesh side panels from its predecessor, but taking another bold step with its look — including the first appearance of a translucent sole on a Jordan signature sneaker. Tinker Hatfield drew inspiration from World War II-era fighter planes when he implements the infamous “shark-teeth” look into its design along the midsole.

Bugs Bunny replaced Spike Lee’s “Mars Blackmon” as the pitchman and, for the very first time, there were no Nike logos visible on the outside. Jordan won a second-straight NBA championship in the 7, and made history as part of the “Dream Team” during the 1992 Barcelona Olympics.

Michael Jordan won his fifth title with the Bulls in the 12, making the black/red colorway legendary for his performance in Game 5 of the NBA Finals, often referenced as the “The Flu Game.”
