PR Rising Star is a platform for designers which has evolved over the years and continues to adapt to best serve its purpose -
Giving young designers a chance to convert concept to retail, an opportunity to generate sales and engagement and through this, tell their stories through their own unique perspective.

Over the years, it is introducing new creatives, each bringing their own craft and identity to Sri Lankan design.

Emerging names taking a chance, every Rising Star adds something different to the conversation in store.

A chance for our PR customers to see and buy something fresh and emerging.

More than a title, PR Rising Star is a celebration of people shaping the future of local fashion. One collection at a time.

Here’s to the designers who’ve come before, and to the ones just getting started.

In conversation with Annika Fernando on the story behind the PR Rising Star programme.
An initiative created to provide chosen young designers a platform, an introduction to retail and to give visitors to PR, an opportunity to view and shop local emerging talent.

We explore why she started the programme when she did, the gap she saw in the industry, and the importance of nurturing the next generation of creatives and entrepreneurs in Sri Lanka in this unique way.

More than just a retail platform, PR Rising Star is a celebration of individuality, craftsmanship and the future of local design through one-on-one mentorship and collaborative effort.

A teeny teaser into what to expect from our new PR Rising Star - Nao, with this Style
Session.

The debut collection from Nao explores texture, movement and individuality through versatile pieces celebrating Sri Lankan craft textiles through intentional deconstruction.

Styled on Dinuli and Gavindu of The Model Atelier - a new collection in store celebrating local handloom cotton, by the newest PR Rising Star at PR Colombo 7

Nawoda Bandara, the young designer behind the brand Nao, invites you to ‘Wear her chaos’ and make it yours.

Introducing NAO, our newest and a bright PR Rising Star

Built around the idea of ‘wear your chaos’, NAO designer Nawodha Bandara brings a fresh perspective to Sri Lankan fashion through her use of local handloom cotton.
Embracing individuality, imperfection and self-expression through bold textures and unexpected silhouettes.
Playful, experimental and unapologetically original, the label represents a new generation of designers unafraid to push boundaries and create something entirely their own - a debut retail collection celebrating local craft featuring batik and Dumbara, which involved 8 months of mentorship with Annika Fernando.

As the latest designer to join PR Rising Star, NAO is redefining what contemporary Sri Lankan fashion can look like and we are excited to present her collection to you. Available only at PR Horton Place, Colombo 07

Welcome to the PR Rising Star family, NAO!

A batik focus is incomplete at PR without Sonali Dharmawardena.

Here we’ve layered one of the batik artist’s new a-line skirts with a contrasting apron for a true pattern on pattern look.

Sonali’s aprons really make for fun styling - over a skirt, over pants, even over a dress.
We’ve paired it with an easy Maus Body top which allows the skirt to do its thing, and added a Paradise Road scarf closing the look from the top.

Accessorised with one of our new Batika totes in raffia and batik, this is an effortless look with separates that can be used in day to night styling.

The beautiful Naomi with her buoyant curls presents the look with great power and strength - just the way we like it from the girls.

Maus footwear is a collection of sandals handmade in Sri Lanka in pure leather.
Designed to be worn on repeat, even the flat sole is leather.

The styles have remained the same over the years because you’ve asked for it. They are classic and work season after season.
Occasionally we introduce a new colour, but that’s about it.

Customers who know or ask, can request custom orders - sizes we don’t stock (smaller or larger or wider - they are hand cut), or colours not available on display.

Quality materials, timeless design and pieces you’ll wear over and over again.

Naomi wearing local batik in a series where we play with layering the Sri Lankan craft with thoughtful styling that is also incidental….unpredictable.

Featuring a TSS batik silk dress, cinched with a Maus belt, a Batika bag, and a handcrafted fan from 1948, this look is a reminder that batik can also be fresh.

Some of our best styling stories start when batik is the foundation for layering.
Complementary textures, silhouettes and accessories, the textile creates looks that feel contemporary while staying rooted in Sri Lankan craftsmanship.

In this look, the beautiful Naomi of The Model Atelier wears a simple straight cut La Pard batik dress with a splattered pattern reminiscent of ***ck, with a long Arc en Ciel silk kimono in a monochrome ocean like batik pattern, accessorised with a batik handloom tote from Aleaf, and a raffia tote with batik details by new brand in store, Batika.
Too much? We think it’s 🤩
