Family Trade

Mindaugas and Ieva are founders of Epic Linen. We create textiles and home decor collections from natural materials that reflect our aesthetic values and beliefs. Our shared passion for craft and design is rooted in our family history. Ieva’s grandparents Janina and Petras were both tailors working with linen. Mindaugas family has same traditions - and we hope this trade will stay in the family. We started working with linen back in 2012. At the time we lived in Provence region of France and were suffering from heat. We bought local linen on the market and appreciated it’s unique ability to breathe and stay cool in summer and keep you warm on colder days. Today we have a design house in Lithuania, our home country that is known for it’s linen traditions. Here, we work with local craftsmen and manufacturers on our new collections.

Linen is the most natural fabric you can find on earth. And with it, you are literally closer to nature. In every way. 🌿
There’s a reason we adore linen so much. It begins with a simple plant -flax - and becomes one of the most beautiful fabrics nature has to offer.
Flax generally needs less irrigation than conventional cotton, can grow with fewer pesticides depending on farming conditions, and gives us strong, durable fibres that can last for years. Pure linen is biodegradable under suitable conditions, too. A fabric born from nature, made to be cherished for a long time.
But our love for linen goes beyond its natural origins. We’ve seen it accompany so many different moments of life - from slow mornings and busy workdays to summer adventures and cosy evenings at home.
And somehow, it always belongs. Gentle, breathable, effortlessly sophisticated and beautifully adaptable to every season.
Perhaps that’s the beauty of linen: it gives us so much while keeping us close to what’s natural. 🤍

Curd cheese pie with raisins and braided dough

Preparation: 30 min · Baking: 40–50 min · Oven: 180°C

Ingredients
For the dough
400 g plain flour
200 g cold butter
120 g sugar
2 eggs
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp vanilla sugar
Pinch of salt

For the filling
600 g curd cheese (varškė)
2 eggs
120 g sugar
100 g sour cream
40 g flour
100 g raisins
1 tsp vanilla sugar
Lemon zest, optional

How to make it
Make the dough. Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, vanilla sugar and salt. Rub in the cold butter, add the eggs and knead into a soft dough. Refrigerate for 20–30 minutes.
Prepare the filling. Mix the curd cheese, eggs, sugar, sour cream, flour and vanilla sugar. Stir in the raisins.
Make the base. Reserve about one-third of the dough. Roll out the rest and line a 24–26 cm round cake tin, covering the bottom and forming a small edge.

Add the filling. Spread the curd mixture evenly over the base.
Make the braid. Roll the reserved dough into thin strips. Twist two strips together or braid three strips, then arrange them around the edge of the pie. You can also make a few braided strips across the top.

Bake at 180°C for 40–50 minutes, until the pastry is golden and the filling is set.

Let it cool before slicing.
