Britain's Dan Evans expects to be fit enough to play Wimbledon after overcoming a knee injury caused by slipping at Queen's.

The 34-year-old was left in tears after falling at the back of the court in his first-round match against Brandon Nakashima on 18 June.

He initially feared the problem could rule him out of his home Grand Slam - and possibly stop him representing Great Britain in an Olympics for the first time.

However, he sought a second opinion from a knee specialist last week, who diagnosed a "bad strain".

Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher says he is only "focusing on England" at Euro 2024 amid reports he could leave his boyhood club this summer.

Gallagher has been linked with Aston Villa or Tottenham, and any sale would go down as 'pure profit', meaning it would help Chelsea to navigate the Premier League's strict profit and sustainability rules.

The 24-year-old Gallagher took over as Chelsea captain from the injured Reece James for the majority of last season and impressed to earn a spot at his second major tournament with England.

England manager Gareth Southgate said he is "spinning a lot of plates" as the deadline to finalise his squad for Euro 2024 nears.

England play Iceland at Wembley on Friday (19:45 BST) in their final friendly before the tournament, after which Southgate will confirm the 26-man group he will take to Germany.

Speaking about his upcoming selection after Monday's 3-0 win over Bosnia-Herzegovina, he said: "We understand the significance for all of the players so we're giving it the respect and attention it deserves to make fair, right decisions.

Manchester's Co-op Live arena has postponed its opening shows, featuring comedian Peter Kay, as it is not ready.

The venue, which will be the largest in the UK, held its first test event on Saturday but had to cancel some tickets just hours beforehand.

Kay was due to perform the first official events there this Tuesday and Wednesday.

But the venue said work on its power supply was "a few days behind" schedule.

"It is critical to ensure we have a consistent total power supply to our fully electric sustainable venue, the completion of which is a few days behind," a statement said.

"Rescheduling gives us the extra time we need to continue testing thoroughly.

"This is vital to satisfy the rigorous set of guidelines and protocols that are necessary for a venue of this size."

Det Ch Insp Nigel Penney told BBC Crimewatch Live there were 12 people in particular they wanted to speak to.

A 26-year-old Kent actor has taken home the EE Rising Star Award at the Baftas.

Mia McKenna-Bruce won the only Bafta award chosen by the public on Sunday for her role as Tara in Molly Manning Walker's How to Have S*x.

Miss McKenna-Bruce said the win was a "complete surprise" and she wanted to "hug every single person" who voted for her to win.

The actor was nominated alongside Phoebe Dynevor, Ayo Edebiri, Jacob Elordi and Sophie Wilde.

Miss McKenna-Bruce won for her role in How to Have S*x, a coming-of-age drama about sexual consent set during a post-GCSEs holiday in Malia on the Greek island of Crete.

She said she hoped the win would keep "conversations going" around the film.

A Belfast woman has said it was "a childhood dream come true" to compete on the reboot of the iconic '90s favourite TV show, Gladiators.

The BBC show sees people from across the UK compete against 'Gladiators' in a variety of sporty challenges.

Tuathlaith Murtagh admits she was slightly nervous entering the arena in front of thousands of screaming fans, but absolutely loved the experience.

She said she has never been one to shy away from physical challenges.

The 30 year old, who works as a personal trainer, said she has always been very competitive and loves to push herself physically every single day.

The new series, co-hosted by father and son duo Bradley and Barney Walsh, is filmed at the Utilita Arena in Sheffield and has been watched by millions since it launched back in January.

Original supermodels Cindy Crawford, Naomi Campbell, Christy Turlington and Linda Evangelista are among the 40 stars on British Vogue's latest cover.

Oprah Winfrey, Victoria Beckham, Dua Lipa and Miley Cyrus are also in the "farewell shoot" for the final issue by outgoing editor Edward Enninful.

He wanted the Legendary issue to be entirely "dedicated to women".

Enninful said no single person could "encapsulate the past few years for the magazine".

He selected women who he claimed had "reached beyond fashion and culture to change the fabric of society in the 2020s, in ways small and large and always positive".

Kate Moss, Cara Delevingne, Gemma Chan, Jodie Comer, Maya Jama and Rina Sawayama are among the British stars to be featured in the diverse line-up.

The roll call of superstars also includes Serena Williams, Iman, Selma Blair and Anya Taylor-Joy.

A County Durham theatre is closing for several months due to its second major roof repair in four years.

The 500-seat Empire Consett, which was built in 1885, will shut on 8 February until the autumn, a spokesperson said.

The works, which will cost about £470,000, will see loft boarding, handrails, new steps and access measures installed into the roof space.

The refurbishment comes just a few years after £500,000 worth of repairs were made to the theatre, including its roof.

These new repairs will ensure that the roof space is safe and accessible, a spokesperson said.

This will allow the theatre to improve the quality of its productions, they added.

“We will be able to use a wider and more up-to-date range of technical equipment, such as lighting,” they said.

The venue’s cafe will also be closed during the works.

Northern Soul to take to the stage in comedy play

The Northern Soul music era of the 1970s is being celebrated with a new comedy play that is coming to the New Vic Theatre in Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Do I Love You?, by John Godber, draws on the playwright’s love of the genre which he has been a fan of for 50 years.

Mr Godber says the show reflects how that music scene is making a comeback, because the UK is in a similar place, socially and politically, to how it was in the 70s.

It follows three young people, brought together through the music, and features choreography by 2022 Northern Soul world dance champion Sally Molloy.

Mr Godber said: “We are aware how important the [Stoke] area was in the history of Northern Soul.

“We are also delighted to have been able to have the show choreographed by... Sally, who herself is from Staffordshire.”

Why The Bear star Ayo Edebiri is 'Ireland's own'

The Bear star Ayo Edebiri is a Golden Globe winner, a Critics Choice award winner, an Emmy winner - and an unlikely "Irish" superstar?

The actor has been sweeping award season for her role as chef Sydney in the stress-taurant comedy-drama.

And along the way, as she did on the Emmy's red carpet, she's been thanking Ireland.

"Shout out to Derry, shout out to Cork, short out to Killarney," she told Entertainment Weekly.

Later, she picked up an Emmy for for supporting actress in a comedy series - her second award in two days after her win at the Critics Choice Awards.

And in her speech she thanked her "real family".

"To everybody in Boston, Barbados, Nigeria, Ireland in many ways," Edebiri listed, to roars of laughter.
