Ahead of the Olympic games in Paris this summer, Louis Vuitton, as part of LVMH's Premium Partnership with Paris 2024, has unveiled the Medals Trunks and Torches Trunks specially crafted for the games. In line with the brand’s tradition of handcrafting trunks dating back to 1854, they are designed to house the prestigious medals and safeguard the official torches.

Each trunk features distinctive details, such as the iconic Monogram canvas and Damier canvas exteriors, brass corners, and closures.

In Pictures: Dries van Noten’s signature explored

Antwerp-based designer Dries van Noten is stepping down as creative director at his own eponymous fashion house in June. As such, the fashion house, which was founded in 1986, has begun its search for a new creative head. In light of the news, FashionUnited takes a look into Van Noten’s design signatures as we wave farewell to the outgoing icon.

Van Noten was born with a love of clothes, a love that descended from his grandfather and mother, who were tailors and designers at heart. His family immersed him in the craft and skills of fabrics, which enthused him about the power of flair and style for men and women. Van Noten set out to explore the subjectivity of 'beauty' and the role it would play in his life.

His research manifests itself in designs with luxurious layers in an eclectic range of colours, textures and prints that define the Antwerp-based designer's romantic feel. Van Noten sees a garment as an item that speaks for itself but is part of a larger story; firstly a designer's vision for a collection, secondly as part of the wearer's expression.

Van Noten derives pleasure from creating a garment that combines and balances beauty, craftsmanship and function. In doing so, the garment should be wearable and should still be part of someone's life story after a while. Van Noten juggles colours, textures and light.

Q&A with George Zimmer, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Generation Tux

Renting services have become mainstream in modern-day society, seeping into all sectors from staying in virtual strangers’ homes for vacation on Airbnb, to downloading and borrowing books on Kindle, to streaming tv-series on Netflix and listening to music via Spotify. Fashion is no different, with services ranging from Rent the Runway offering subscriptions to rent designer outfits to fast-fashion players Urban Outfitters (URBN) launching its own rental platform Nuuly. As rental services within the fashion industry continue to grow, one area remains particularly promising - occasion wear. With spring just around the corner, it brings the start of wedding season and the need for well-fitting, quality and stylish formal wear.

Seeking to bridge the gap, George Zimmer, entrepreneur and founder of Men’s Wearhouse launched Generation Tux, an online suit and tuxedo rental company in 2014. With more than 40 years of experience, Zimmer leveraged his insights and knowledge into the company to make renting a suit or formal wear online as smooth, easy and seamless as possible. Ten years after its successful launch, Generation Tux announced the opening of its first-ever showroom in Columbus, Ohio, as the company sought to leverage its offering into a new physical destination for consumers. Seeking to offer its consumer a new shopping experiences, while creating a hub to serve the local community, we spoke with Zimmer to learn more about Generation Tux’s debut store, the evolution of the company and his vision for the company’s expansion.

Chanel acquires French fashion group JY BH

French luxury brand Chanel is acquiring fashion group JY BH, including all the French company's operations, four studios and employees, FashionNetwork reported. The acquisition will also bring French fashion designer Jean-Yves Bohère to Chanel.

"This decision was made on the basis of coinciding interests: the JY BH Group relies on a solid partner that offers it long-term visibility, while Chanel helps to retain exceptional expertise in the heart of France," Chanel reported to the media outlet.

Nothing will change about JY BH's working methods, and the studios will continue to work with their customers, the French luxury brand stressed.

Jean-Yves Bohère founded fashion group JY BH in 1999 by acquiring Marque & Mod, an atelier specialising in women's fashion. In 2005, he moved to a PR3 atelier in Bourges (France), where he focused on tailoring and clothes with sleeves, which became the group's main activities. In 2013, he added two ateliers to his portfolio while also establishing a design agency to develop both women's and men's collections at the same time.
