Mowgs was the brain child of Michal who has been working with farmers in the remote areas of Asia. In the rainy season the villagers weave traditional cane baskets to carry their daily shopping. A couple of years ago one of the weavers was looking at a pile of discarded plastic packaging tape and came up with the idea of using it to weave with, instead of using the natural cane. Since then they ha
ve developed bright coloured baskets each one is unique and takes each weaver a day to make. They have become an every day necessity you will spot the local ladies using the baskets every day in the markets, fields or on the beach. The beauty to this is that the weavers with out realising have turned an old piece of plastic packaging tape into a fashionable functional accessory which is helping to protect our environment in a numerous ways.
