Water resistance (friction in liquids)
It is more difficult for us to move through water than it is to move through air. (so why make it more difficult?)
This is because the water rubs against our arms, legs, body and anything else that gets in the way, all of which causes different types of friction (water resistance).
We can try to move faster in water but that can be very difficult.
We usually change our shape in order to move faster, improved streamlining for example to reduce resistance and drag - then we swim sooner, easier and better.
Because of resistance we try to move our arms and legs quickly but we find that it becomes very difficult and very tiring!
Its not that we don't try hard enough, we just give up with poor to no results.
This leads to lack of motivation, enjoyment and a willingness to carry on, all of which has a negative Psychological effect.
