✨ END OF AN ERA — THE LEGENDARY Kenjo Boutiques GROUP SIGNS OFF ✨
After 43 remarkable years, a true local icon of upmarket fashion has officially closed its doors.
The legendary Kenjo Boutiques 🖤 has come to the end of an extraordinary succesful journey — one defined by elegance, exclusivity, and fearless innovation that lead the way reaching the market in a pattern similar to today's Franchising brands..
🌍 From as early as the mid to late 1980s, Kenjo was already ahead of its time — introducing Mario Genovese’s own inspirational designs ✨, whilst collaborating with the renowned London-based stylist Lisa Capricci, while bringing the very best of Paris 🇫🇷, Rome 🇮🇹, Firenze 🇮🇹, Milan 🇮🇹, Madrid 🇪🇸 and London 🏴 to a Maltese market that was just beginning to discover true international style.
Between 1985 and 1989, standards were set… and the industry took note. 🔥
💎 Over the decades, Kenjo collaborated with legendary fashion names, building a reputation rooted in vision, courage, and impeccable taste — supported by a powerful international fashion network.
With over 42 major brands represented, amongst them Moschino, Dolce & Gabbana, Yes Saint Laurent, Nina Ricci and Oscar de La Renta the philosophy was always clear:
👉 Quality & style over price. Always.
🏬 At its peak, GTI Group operated five prestigious outlets: • Mikoshi – St. Julian’s
• Ginza – Sliema
• Kenjo – Valletta
• Kyoto - Valletta
• GTI VIP – Kappara
In 1995 Alexandra Genovese joined the company as Mario was appointed Chairman for the Pret a Porter International consortium A.I.P.P.D which was based in Paris and Honk Kong were Mario was entrusted to bring more opportunities to young fashion creators from all over the globe. The Kenjo Boutiques weren’t just regular stores… they were destinations 🌟
Welcoming VIP clients, international personalities, ambassadors, ministers, heads of state, and prestige personalities — and dressing some of Malta’s most iconic weddings 💍 and red carpet events 🎬. Alongside came some interesting and amazing inside stories by International personalities. One of the most enchanting was dressing up dustinguished clients for Prince Albert's Royal Wedding in Monaco.
💫 That's what truly set Kenjo apart?
Exclusivity. Individuality. Perfection.
For over 40 years:
✔️ Most pieces were selected as one-offs only
✔️ Every item was meticulously handpicked & quality checked
✔️ No duplicates on the island
As early as 1992, the Kenjo Group pioneered an “engagement blocking” computerised digital system — a revolutionary concept ensuring that once a fashion piece was chosen for an event, it remained 100% exclusive to that client.
Confidential. Unique. Untouchable.
❤️ Behind it all stood the Genovese family — whose passion, dedication, and relentless pursuit of excellence built a legacy that is simply insurmountable.
Today, we don’t just close an era…
We celebrate a movement, a vision, a legacy that has left a permanent mark on Malta’s fashion landscape 🇲🇹✨
🙏 Thank you all for 43 unforgettable years.
As one chapter closes… a new journey begins. 🌅 Thank you all once again...
