Raksha Bandhan thread is worn by sisters on the right hand of their brothers on Shravan Purnima day. The ritual is of great significance in Hindu religion. So, how many days should the brothers wear Raksha Bandhan thread. In ancient times it was born for a full year as sign of brother-sister relationship and protection. But now people do not wear it that long.
The thread can be worn for 7 days, 21 days, 51 days or 108 days.
The thread should be properly disposed. It should be hung on a neem tree or put under a peepal or neem tree.
