Bata is an international franchise from Czech Republic existing since over 120 years now. Bata has been present in Mauritius for more than 50 years and was known as a local shoe manufacturer and retailer of quality shoes at affordable prices. Bata was one of the very few international brands to have been active in Mauritius well before our independence. Today Bata still operates in the original pr

emises in Coromandel, but all shoe manufacturing has ceased completely. Since 1894, All Bata shops in the world were owned and operated by Bata. But in 2007, Bata decided to develop its franchise and Mauritius was the first country to sign the Bata Franchise agreement. On the 30th May 2008, Bata Mauritius opened its First “Family Concept Store” according to the international Bata Standards, in Rose-Hill. The Rose Hill Shop was inaugurated by the Minister of Commerce of Industry of Mauritius. In the same year, Bata Mauritius, opened another 3 stores on the Island, 1 City Concept Store in Royal of Port Louis & another 2 Family Concept Stores in Curepipe, and Desforges of Port Louis. The success of the new shops, resulting from positive shopping experience of our customers and the medium-priced quality footwear, encouraged FIT'IN SHOE CO (MTIUS) LTD, the franchisee of Bata to open new shops.
