Let me ask you this.. if I was a government employee and the opposition had won, would you keep me in the system employed? I mean you know I am 100% red blood. My loyalty is to HH.. would you still keep me or you would retire me?

You know the truth is this.. i would even think you are stupid if you kept me because without a doubt i would do everything in my power to undermine your government from the inside. Why..? BECAUSE I'M RED. AND THAT IS MY LOYALTY.

THE BEST IS TO FIRE ME.

Hichilema pardons 852 prisoners for Independence Day

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has exercised his prerogative of mercy to pardon 852 prisoners as Zambia marks 62 years of independence. A further 146 inmates have had their sentences commuted to fixed jail terms.

Of those pardoned yesterday, 838 are ordinary inmates and four are women with children in prison. Eight are elderly, and two are foreign nationals.

Citing ZNBC, Home Affairs and Internal Security Permanent Secretary Dickson Matembo said the move forms part of Government's drive to help prisoners turn their lives around and ease congestion in correctional facilities.

Mr. Matembo added that Government remains committed to abolishing the death penalty.

He urged families and the public to welcome and support the released prisoners as they return to their communities, saying such support will help them reintegrate into society and make a fresh start.

The pardons coincide with today's celebrations of Zambia's 62nd Independence anniversary.

No teacher should lose their job for their vote – BETUZ

The Basic Education Teachers Union of Zambia (BETUZ) has warned that no teacher should be dismissed, transferred or harassed over the candidate they support in the August 13 general elections.

Speaking on World Teachers' Day, BETUZ secretary general Dr Henry Sinkala said teachers are citizens with the right to make their own political choices without fear of punishment. He urged political actors and their supporters to respect teachers' dignity and professional independence.

"As a labour movement, we will not stand and watch teachers being threatened, intimidated, victimised or discriminated against because of their perceived political choices," he said.

Dr Sinkala called for tolerance, noting that elections come and go but Zambia remains a shared home. He urged politicians to focus on issues affecting the education sector, including quality education, staffing, housing and teacher welfare.

He also asked Government to keep improving teachers' conditions of service, especially housing, which remains a major challenge in rural and remote areas. He called for increased investment in teacher housing, reviewed housing allowances, and stronger incentives such as better allowances, transport support and improved infrastructure for rural postings. Teachers taking on extra duties, he added, should be fairly compensated and paid on time.

He said the free education programme can only succeed if teachers are well supported, adding that a secure and respected teacher gives their best to learners.

Dr Sinkala thanked Government for maintaining wage increments over the past five years and urged it to continue, describing teacher welfare as an investment in education and the Grow Zambia agenda.

"Let this country settle, let teachers teach, let workers work and let us move Zambia forward as one united nation," he said.
