On May 15th, the UNIMA Fashion Society hosted a vibrant get‑together designed to foster networking between students and lecturers. The occasion featured an impressive showcase of garments created by first‑, second‑, and third‑year students as part of their end‑of‑semester projects, highlighting creativity and craftsmanship across the program.

Beyond the fashion displays, the event encouraged interaction through fun activities and games. Lecturers and students joined in friendly competitions such as tug of war, bawo, and FIFA, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and shared enjoyment.

Overall, the gathering successfully blended professional exchange with playful engagement, strengthening bonds within the fashion community at UNIMA.

🔥🔥💥Good morning Team Fshion.

Tuesday 12 May, selected members from each year of study under the Fashion Society had the opportunity to visit Mulunguzi Secondary School under the guidance of Mr Chilasa(staff associate) here we conducted teaching and motivational sessions for students studying Clothing, Textiles and Design.

The visit was meaningful and inspiring as our members shared knowledge, practical experiences, and words of encouragement to help the students remain focused and passionate about their studies and future careers in fashion and design.

We are proud to see our society continuing to make a positive impact through mentorship, creativity, and community engagement.

Special thanks to all members who represented the society well and contributed towards the success of the outreach program. Together, we continue to inspire, learn, and grow. 🔥

📢 FASHION SOCIETY ELECTION RESULTS ANNOUNCEMENT 🗳️✨

Yesterday marked an important and successful moment for our Fashion Society as we conducted the executive elections. We sincerely appreciate every member who participated, supported candidates, and contributed towards making the elections peaceful, transparent, and successful. Your involvement shows the unity, growth, and commitment we have as a society. 👏🔥
The elections were highly competitive, and all candidates performed exceptionally well by showing confidence, leadership qualities, creativity, and passion for the growth of the society. We congratulate every participant for their courage and effort throughout the campaign and voting process.

After the final counting of votes, the following members have been officially elected to lead the Fashion Society Executive:

The Department of Fashion and Design at the University of Malawi (UNIMA) hosted a motivational talk to inspire students and highlight the diverse career opportunities in fashion. Guest of honour Brenda Chitanda, Managing Director of House of Men (HoM), encouraged students to see the full value of their studies, noting careers in design, garment construction, pattern making, and accessories. Third-year student Wedson Chatsika shared his experience teaching fashion and entrepreneurship in Uganda, showing how the programme equips graduates to lead and make an impact. Staff associate Hurdson Chilasa, who organized the event, emphasized that such interactions motivate students, strengthen industry connections, and often lead to internships and attachments.

Last week the Fashion and Design students had a runway right in the most popular & Honoured place "The mighty greathall"🥳🥳.

Where creativity meets the runway not just fashion, but art in motion look at the poses🔥🔥.

We had two themes for our Runway "Casual wear also known as street wear and evening wear also called dinner wear".

Every piece tells a story, every step makes a statement, and today, our future designers
