Chile… I let my wild side design for a second and by wild I mean not worrying about production or judgement or being sensible!
What Bey said? Something like ‘Underneath the pretty face is something complicated, I come with a side of trouble...’

These are only concepts for now, but maybe one day I’ll let my wild side create the entire collection.

Trying something new: turning the very real, slightly unhinged parts of building Salēan into a founder series.

I really thought starting a swimwear brand meant designing cute silhouettes and finding the perfect shade of brown.

Then came fabric specifications, stretch recovery, compression, chlorine resistance, UV protection, quick-drying finishes, saltwater performance and approximately one million more questions.

The funny part is, I’m actually a chemist. So somewhere between the samples, revisions, trade shows and rebuilding the brand, the science started making sense.

I’m still learning, still building and still figuring a whole lot of s**t out as I go. Sharing that part makes me a little nervous, but I want this series to show the real journey not just the polished final product.

Salēa is becoming more intentional with every lesson.

Cute swimsuits but make them technical. ☀️

“Working on the weekend as usual” hits a little different when you own a business AND work a full time job 😅😅

I learned so much at this trade show. I met fabric suppliers, asked a million questions, and realized fabric can do way more than I knew: chlorine resistance, UV resistance, four-way stretch, compression, UPF 50+, saltwater resistance, quick-drying technology and the list goes on.

A few things I learned to bring next time:
samples, a notebook, a tiny stapler, pens, business cards, and a big tote or rolling bag. Most importantly, go in with a plan.

I’m still building, learning, and figuring a whole lot of s**t out as I go. But if you’re thinking about starting a swimwear brand, I can definitely tell you what not to do 😂

I’ve been thinking a lot about why I keep coming back to swimwear.

It’s not just because I love bikinis.

It’s because I love what swimwear represents: warm weather, water, softness, confidence, a trip on the calendar, a version of myself that feels lighter.

I don’t want Salēa to feel like something you only think about in June.

I want it to feel like a reminder that you can create summer energy whenever you need it.
