Just in time for Christmas gift giving! Our Bomberos T-shirts are now for sale at Northside Café. For those of you not in Sayulita, they are also available to have shipped to anywhere in North America.

The proceeds from the sale of these shirts go to a fire safety awareness program for the children at La Primaria. The cost for the shirts is 400 Mexican or $20.00 USD in Sayulita. To order for shipping these shirts are $25.00 CDN. Our Charity Project has come to fruition! 3 years ago a firefighter tshirt was created with a dream to provide back money into the community of Sayulita in the means of Fire Safety. It has been 3 years of some passive sales in Canada and some weekly sales at the Pro Sayulita tshirt table in the Friday market, downtown Sayulita. 3 years later and we had enough funds to finally put together a lesson plan for an awesome class of Grade 5 students in town as well as gifting them SMOKE DETECTORS to install in their home. We provided them lessons on what to do in case of fire in your home and creating an emergency escape plan. Along with an interpreter and visual boards provided in Spanish, we gave a lesson that the children listened to, enjoyed and had some great questions and answers to after. In addition to the lesson, the children were each provided with a take home bag with a pencil, ruler, emergency escape grid, and the smoke detector along with information on how to install and maintain the detector. The looks on their faces when we showed and explained they were getting to take home a smoke detector was priceless, amazing and so gratifying.
This is our first presentation. We are hoping to provide many more over the years!! I would love to provide a smoke detector for every local home in this village.

Ok, so the song is a little goofy, but the message directed towards kids is perfect. 4 Steps simply stated for their safety.
Smoke Detectors Save Lives! The Sayulita Charity Firefighter T-Shirt's initiative is education for smoke detectors in schools and donating smoke detectors to the residents of the Village of Sayulita. We are hoping to provide at least one detector for every residence.

Hello Facebook Community of Friends and Associates!! I have started a new page to promote the Sayulita Charity Firefighter T-shirt.

The Sayulita Firefighter T-Shirt was created by a Full-Time British Columbia Firefighter, Christel Nickel. That is me!!! On my 3rd trip to this blessed jewel of a town, I finally committed to finding a fire t-shirt for my travelling collection and offer a donation to the local fire hall. I was steered in the direction of the local charity organization, Pro Sayulita. The director, Jack Jones, let me know they currently did not have a fire t-shirt available, but what would I like to see on it when they did create one. I gave the ideas of fire, a surfer, something Mexicana. He said, "Well why don't you create one?". And I said "YES!" With the help of an amazing designer, DJ, marketing Guru whom I had recently befriended in Sayulita, we went gangbusters on the ideas and came up with such an awesome design. (Thank you Shasta Sowards!) The purpose is to create funds for Emergency Services in the town of Sayulita.
