4 Things To Avoid When "Slamming" Children.
It is very necessary for parents to have the role of giving advice and helping their children see their mistakes and shortcomings. But not hurting the child's self-esteem and honor is extremely important. A few notes Huyen learned in the process of teaching children:
1. Negation of the child's personality.
There is no bad child, only wrong or inappropriate child's work.
If parents scold their children with words that only hurt their personality, they will make their children unhappy and self-deprecating and no longer trust or disappointed in themselves. Should avoid words that suggest negative personality such as naughty, liar, useless, destructive, stupid, incompetent ... just talk about where your child's behavior is not right and how to correct it.
2. Repeatedly reprimanded many mistakes.
Should not scold and reprimand many mistakes from the past at the same time, but should separate each time to only comment 1-2 things, especially do not say the same issue over and over, especially the type every now and then. That is, bring up the old mistake and say it out loud.
3. Parents should not scold together, but one of them must side with the child.
In the past, when I was a child, my parents scolded me, I will gradually improve my mood by going to the neighbors or going out to play with friends, being comforted and comforted by grandparents, but more and more modern families are living separately. established and the children lack "allies" to share joys and sorrows.
So every time a child scolds, a child wants to be on his side by his father or mother, if both parents are angry at the same time, it is really not good for the child's psyche. is tolerated.
4. Do not scold your child in front of others.
Everyone has their own dignity and honor even as a 2-year-old child. When your self-esteem is affected, you will not be able to open your hand and actively listen to contributions even goodwill, as you in front of others greatly affect a child's face, which will make him more and more become more self-deprecating. Only come up to solve problems when you and your child are present.

WHERE IS NO CONFIDENCE FROM?
The source of lack of confidence comes from FEAR.
Fear of wrong, fear of judgment, fear of being hurt, fear of suffering, fear of pain (both mentally and physically)... afraid of everything in the world. So let your child be wrong, and wrong has progress.
Then there's the question:
At what age do children stop being wrong?
It's so hard, because even adults themselves can't stop. But only partially limited. Because life is a journey of "allowing to be wrong" and "correcting". But how to be "reasonably wrong" at each stage.
I still remember when I was a kid, I was afraid of being wrong, and when I had a baby, I was still afraid of being wrong. Because my brain is programmed from a young age to be "not allowed to make mistakes". I'm afraid of doing something wrong, so I don't dare to do it, say I don't dare to say it because I'm afraid my parents or people will judge me.
As a person with a low fine motor index, his limbs were entangled. So much so that her best friend said: "Why is it embarrassing to see you holding a loofah knife?"
Simply because when I was a kid until I was an adult, I was afraid of breaking my hand, so I didn't "dare to be wrong and practice". The problem here is still fear 😂.
Just like teaching children, from 0-14 years old, allow your children to "be wrong".
Do not be too perfectionist on a child, it is important that the children dare to act and draw their own conclusions.
Correcting children, correcting children need patience, do not be hasty and do not expect too much.
Now that I think back to my schooling process, I feel extremely regretful. Because on that day, I was afraid of being wrong and hiding my ignorance a lot. I don't want my parents to be disappointed, and mistakes just keep on sliding into mistakes. I'm so afraid of people judging me to the point of obsession. So my life is "safe" until I have children.
Therefore, I feel that it is necessary to give children the "wrong permission". Don't be afraid that you keep "wrong will become a habit". Because "if you want to go fast, you have to go slowly".
Children need to be wrong, then correct, then wrong again, and then correct again. Gradually, children learn lessons slowly but firmly. It is important that children dare to do, dare to act, become a necessary quality and skill, for children to form confidence in themselves. Children confidently act, confidently offer witnesses, solutions, confident to be wrong and confident to correct mistakes because that is extremely important.
I learned from a teacher. The teacher taught that, guide children to talk about any topic, even about toilet paper cores. And when you speak, don't interrupt to edit. Help your child gain speaking skills, and get ideas as quickly as possible. Mistakes are fixed not overnight, and "the spark of confidence is in the blink of an eye", so parents try not to accidentally extinguish it.
Sometimes done is more than perfect.
As long as you don't have a fear mindset.
Parents, remember! Don't be afraid of someone saying you taught your child wrong. The important thing is to dare to act. Because no one is perfect, experiment with methods and tools that make sense and dare to be wrong. It will make the process of accompanying your child lighter, stress-free and much happier 😊

TURNING “CHALLENGES” TO ” OPPORTUNITIES”
There was a reader yesterday who commented on the article "I do not forbid my children to use phones and televisions" with the following content: "Due to all conditions and parenting, children do not know what to run after. majority. Let me give you an example, if it's a family that doesn't have the conditions to get those devices, why not contact it?"
I remember the old days, when I was a child, I was about the same age as my son, more than 4 years old now, I didn't have a phone, TV, smartphone, there were no animated shows to watch all day, short TikTok videos on network to watch. Every time I want to watch a children's program, I have to wait until 6.30 pm for the program "Small flowers". Think about yourself, then think about your children. Nowadays, society is developing more and more, it is no longer strange for children to easily come into contact with electronic devices. Like turning on YouTube, there are children's programs, animation, music of all kinds.
So I think, this is the "challenge" for me how to help my child focus on other activities, or the family can afford to watch electronic devices but he chooses other things.
I accept the hard work and loss of time in the beginning, building up useful activities for my children. In addition to electronic devices, children have many other activities to play, to engage them, and they are aware that “Oh! No phones, no iPads, there's so much to do, to run around, to play with, to have fun with."
So what are the activities I build for my children? And how did I work?
- I accept that the house will be messy, I come home from work, one day my children's toys are finished playing, each place has a place. Even if I put my toys away every time I play, it certainly won't be as neat as my mom cleans it up. I help her pick up the toys that are still lying around and tell her to put them more neatly next time she plays.
- I set up a lot of games for my children to play, like mother and daughter making clay together, and then my brother has clay to play with. Mother and daughter do scientific research, from dishwashing liquid, to baking soda powder, to food coloring, to vinegar. I will have a series of sharing on the topic "Mom! I want to be a scientist” in the following articles.
- My son and I paint the statue, the house is a bit dirty, if it is dirty, clean it, I accept it.
- I read books with my son. At night, I fall asleep with my eyes closed, but before going to bed, me and my son always have moments of reading together. And I have a habit of turning the book page by page without paying attention to the television in front of me.
- My son and I draw pictures, play jigsaw puzzles, play games that he likes.
- My mother and I also have time together whispering, chatting every night, praising the child, playing quizzes and quizzes together.
- My mother and I went to the park, the zoo, and visited places near our house.
It is the "challenges" of electronic devices that are the "opportunities" to help you and your child together. The activities I play with my children, I list a few bullet points, but in order to have such activities, I accept the messy, untidy house, go home to spend time with my children, play with them during this period. Initially when I was a child. Because I know and understand one thing, I am building a healthy childhood for my child. Children have a rich play life, when they have more interests they will be less affected by the device.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post.

Being a mother is a contradiction
There are times when you feel that there is no greater love than the love you have for your child...and there are times when just a hug is extremely difficult.
There are times when you are happy to play with your child...and there are times when you wish you could run away from your child, even if it's only for 5 minutes in the toilet.
There are times when your blood boils before your child's tantrums and nags...and a few minutes later melts before their cuteness.
There are times when you feel like the day is long and unending... and there are times when you are startled: "The baby has grown up so much!"
There are times when you wish time would pass quickly so that your children could grow up quickly...and there were times when you wished time would stop so they could stay small and clear like this.
=====
Motherhood is a mixture of many contradictions.
You are stronger, but also more sensitive.
More mature, but also more self-doubting.
More loving, but also more irritable.
Happier, but also more anxious.
=====
If one day, you feel like you're not doing anything big with this life but the chores of wiping your butt, washing your ass, hanging around with your kids.
I hope every night before you go to bed, you realize that...
You are doing extremely sacred and important work in your life.
⭐️ A hug.
⭐️ A smile.
⭐️ An affectionate look.
⭐️ A book before bedtime.
⭐️ A game.
⭐️ A little listening to stories in the sky and under the sea.
⭐️ One meal.
⭐️ One sleep.
⭐️ One diaper change, butt wipe.
Those jobs may seem trivial to someone out there, but they are huge and meaningful to your child.
And looking back later....you will surely smile because of those moments with your children.

8 golden rules if you have to scold your child.
I had the opportunity to consult with many mothers who are my friends and acquaintances. Most mothers have experienced at least a few scoldings. I was no exception. As a mother, it's hard to act like an angel, so it's hard to cross the line: Never scold a child. But the important thing is how to scold properly. In this article, I would like to share some scolding principles that Japanese mothers have shared in their interviews.
Rule #1: Don't scold just for emotional gratification.
The interviewees are mothers who work 8 hours a day, it is easy to understand that they will have pressure at work. Therefore, it is easy for them to get angry when their children do not cooperate or disobey. Or there is a case that because of arguing with her husband, mother-in-law or having problems with colleagues, she often takes her anger out on her children. In fact, after scolding their children like that doesn't make them feel any better.
Rule #2: Warn and listen before scolding.
When the two brothers had a conflict, you reminded many times but the children continued and finally the younger brother cried, you immediately came and asked: "Why did you hit me?" Also a sentence that wants to find out why, it would be better to start with: “What happened?” And let each person tell the story. This gives both mother and child time to calm down and also helps children learn to communicate, learn to express emotions and empathy from the other. With just the sentence: "Why did you hit me" - invisible, we have confirmed that the child is the one at fault, he feels resentful and can't learn empathy.
Rule 3: Sit down at child's eye level.
Children always have a reason to do or not to do something, so a lot of times they won't do what their parents ask. You want your child to turn off the TV when it's time for dinner, You cook while trying to say aloud: Come on, turn off the TV to eat dinner! Come on, just two more minutes to help me clear the table…” Although these statements may seem like nothing negative, when delivered to a child's brain it will be: "turn off the TV! Help mom clear the table." Children are often quite sensitive to loud sounds, especially the words of their parents. They will appreciate it if you sit down and ask them. If he still refuses to turn off the TV - ask him why and give him time to adjust.
When you have to scold your child for something he refuses to do, if you stand and use condescending language to command a child, the child will also feel inferior, small and inferior. In the long run, it causes an increased risk of anxiety disorders in adulthood.
Rule #4: Explain why you scold your child. Let the child know the mother's feelings.
There are also times when the child has dangerous actions such as jumping on the table, brushing his teeth and jokingly running around, these cases for the safety of the child should not be ignored. So explain to your baby why, it's better to give your baby skin-to-skin contact so that he feels loved. I just don't agree with that action of yours, I still love you very much. I will be sad if you get hurt.
Rule 5: Only scold your child at the moment of the situation. It doesn't last long and it doesn't remind you of the past. Do not scold your child in public.
Children also have self-esteem and need to be nurtured with self-esteem. Repeating mistakes often lowers your child's self-esteem. Self-esteem fosters confidence in your child's self that nothing can ever replace.
Recently, we often hear the words "conditional confidence" and "unconditional confidence". Confidence is not because you are smart, not because you are rich, not because you are beautiful… That is the necessary confidence that children have thanks to the upbringing of adults.
Principle 6: Repeat - praise if your child's actions are repeated in a positive way.
If one day he keeps his promise to turn off the TV before dinner time, I often thank him, express great feelings and praise him: You tried to keep your promise to me, I am so happy about that. I know you love this movie….
If one day I clean the table by myself and clean up after eating. I would say: You cleaned up well, didn't you? If you have kids with you, cleaning will be much quicker.
Rule 7: If you have to be angry with your child, give them a place to hide.
If one parent gets angry when a child makes a mistake, the other parent has to give the child a lifebuoy. I need a place to hide and protect.
When I was little, my brother was very naughty and almost every dinner time was a full time for him. There were days when the family had a meeting with a lot of relatives. For some reason, my younger brother was beaten to death by his mother. The adults around each added a sentence: "Because I don't listen, that's why - Because I'm spoiled, it's right to be beaten." In addition to distinguishing right from wrong, children also need to learn tolerance, forgiveness and love. Is there a baby who feels love and tolerance when no one cares? Surely no parent wants their child to be emotionless, right?
Rule #8: Parents don't have to be winners.
Although sometimes mistakes are in children, but parents should take a step back, giving the victory to their children. Many parents think that because they are adults, they always ask their children to obey. But is that really any good? If the baby disobeys you, you will go crazy for it.
One morning after finishing my breakfast, I asked my children to wash their hands to prepare for school. That day there was a wound on my son's leg, and I offered to help him change his bandages after he washed his hands. Apparently hearing the message from his mother came up with the idea to change the bandage before washing my hands, I was really surprised because the food-stained hand was removing the bandage and touching the open wound. . That's terrible in an adult's way. But the 4-year-old probably doesn't realize it yet. I involuntarily shouted to stop that action of my son. The boy was startled and cried loudly. It was really uncomfortable in this situation to cry, but I had to lower my voice and apologize to her. Seemingly unsatisfied, the boy struggled. If I couldn't control myself, I might have yelled again and taught him a lesson. But is it worth it, it's like adding fuel to the fire. Admittedly, my initial intentions were good ones. I just want to change my bandages myself, but I'm not aware that I need to wash my hands before doing so. The reason we know what to do is because we have lived experience nearly 2 decades before our children, children have the right to make mistakes because it is their prerogative.
