5 Hacks to Get Wrinkles Out of Your Clothes
Genius fixes for when you don't have an iron.

Ugh, ironing. Why is it that it's always after you're showered, dressed and ready that you notice those way-too-visible-to-ignore creases in the shirt you couldn't wait to wear? In the spirit of quick fixes, we've rounded up seven hassle-free ways to remove wrinkles without breaking out the ironing board.

Flat Iron Your Shirt Collar
Hair straighteners—not just for frizz removal. Use your flat iron to quickly press your shirt collar or remove small wrinkles in your blouse. Just be sure to wipe off any product build-up on the plates first and be mindful of temperature settings (cotton = high heat; silk = low heat).

Blow Dry Your Dress
Did you know you can usually zap wrinkles away with concentrated bursts of hot air? Just hold the dryer about two inches back from the garment to avoid scorching the fabric.

Steam Your Clothes In the Shower
Close the windows and doors in your bathroom and hang wrinkled clothes from the shower rod. Then go about your normal bathroom routine—shower, shave your legs, work on your Taylor Swift impression. Fifteen minutes later, wrinkle-free clothes, y'all.

Steam With a Pot of Tea
This method is best for tiny wrinkles. Boil water, then before you savor that morning cup of English Breakfast, hold the spout of the steaming kettle 12 inches from any wrinkled problem areas. You’ll get concentrated steam minus the foggy bathroom mirror.

Roll Your Top Like a Burrito
Lay your wrinkled item on a flat surface, smooth wrinkled spots, then roll it up tightly like you would a burrito. Next, place the garment under a mattress for 15 to 30 minutes. Think of it as literally pressing your clothes.

Learn the best way to fold a T-shirt and avoid wrinkles.

Whether you’re putting away fresh laundry or packing for a summer getaway, it’s useful to know how to properly fold a t-shirt so that when you decide to wear one of your favourites it looks absolutely fresh, clean and wrinkle-free.

While we all have short-sleeve and long-sleeve cotton tees in numerous colours, it’s the white t-shirt that is a wardrobe staple. As with any white item of clothing, the trick is to keep it that way without bleach’s damaging effects, using a detergent likeAriel Regular Washing Liquid 40 washes— with non-chlorine bleach. Once you’ve washed your tees and put them in the dryer, set a timer to alert you when the drying cycle is almost finished. At that point, remove the tees from the dryer while they are still warm and fold them right away to prevent any wrinkling.

How to fold: On a clean, flat surface, place the T-shirt either horizontally or on a slight angle with the front facing up. Then, using your left hand, pinch the top of the shirt that’s farthest from you, just outside the neck. Following straight down from that point, using your right hand, pinch the middle of the shirt. Now, while still holding on to the fabric, cross your left hand over your right hand and bring the bottom hem of the shirt up to the neck, and pinch with your left hand. Uncross your hands while lifting up the T-shirt away from you. One sleeve will be hanging. Now put the shirt back on the surface face down, start with the hanging sleeve, and fold the side that is away from you over the loose sleeve.Voilà!

How to bleach a white shirt

Is your white shirt looking a little more "tan" or "grey" nowadays? Do you wish you could get that brilliant, bright "new shirt" white back? With a little bleach, you can! For many types of fabric, bleach offers a quick, easy, affordable way to achieve brilliant, sparkling whites. However, if your shirt's fabric can't handle the strong cleaning power of bleach, don't worry — you can also get your whites looking great with the bleaching power of the sun!

1. Add your shirt to a bucket of cold water. Use laundry bleach. To begin, toss your shirt in a bucket, bowl, or other suitably sturdy container. Cover it with at least a few inches of cold water.
Feel free to soak other whites with your shirt. It is more efficient to bleach a number of items than just one. White underwear, socks, pillowcases, and towels often are good candidates. If you do, add extra water so that the clothes have at least an inch or so of water over them when pushed down.
You want a container big enough to give you room to stir and agitate your clothing while it soaks. Clean construction-grade buckets are great for this. If you can obtain one with a lid, it will help prevent accidents as well as cut down on any fumes if used inside. Other typical possibilities include a large cooking pot, a bathtub, or your washing machine.

2. Add bleach. Your bottle of bleach very likely has directions on how much is recommended for use. Different bleaches have different concentrations. If you are only soaking your shirt, you may only need a few tablespoons or so. However, if you soak a large load of whites, you may need to add up to 1 cup. [1] Generally, about 1/4 cup of bleach per gallon of water is recommended.[2] If your cloth is soiled, rather than just needing whitening, you may also want to add other cleaning agents for extra cleaning power! Just a few other materials you may want to add are:[3]
Laundry detergent
Dish detergent
Borax
Washing soda
Note: Never mix bleach and ammonia — this can release toxic chloramine gas

3. Let the shirt soak for 5-10 minutes. Next, stir the liquid in the bucket to ensure your shirt (and/or any other clothes with it) get a nice, even soaking. Then, set a timer for five to ten minutes and simply wait for the bleach to do its work! You may want to stir every few minutes to ensure the shirt soaks completely.
Do not let your whites to soak for too long. Even fabrics that can safely be bleached, like cotton and linen, will eventually be weakened and damaged if exposed to bleach for long periods of time.

4. Rinse the shirt in cold water. Once your shirt has soaked, remove it from the bleach mixture and wash it under cold, clear running water. You want to do this to remove the bleach and other chemicals from the fabric. If allowed to dry, these materials can leave unpleasant residues in the fabric which can smell strongly of chlorine, irritate the skin, and possibly cause yellow stains.
