How do you know when it’s time to replace your towels?

The more use they get, the more often you will want to replace them.
When a towel's threads begin to pull—or you notice a lingering odor, despite a careful wash, it's time to toss it.
You can expect body and hand towels to last between two to five years depending on their quality.

300 to 400 GSM: Lightweight, thinner, and coarser.

400 to 600 GSM: Medium to higher weight, soft, absorbent, and good for bath or beach towels.

600 to 900 GSM: Heavyweight, soft, absorbent, and high-priced.

Our towels are between 380-650 GSM.

The ultimate guide to washing your towels.

1. Sort your towels based on colour and level of dirtiness.

2. Most towels can be effectively cleaned using warm water, around 40 degrees Celsius. Higher temperatures are suitable for disinfecting heavily soiled or germ-ridden towels.

3. Opt for a mild detergent without added bleach or fabric softener, as these can weaken the towel fibers over time.

Here is how to make your towels soft again.

BAKING SODA:
Adding baking soda to your towel wash helps remove soap and chemical residue.
Add half a cup of baking soda with your washing detergent, then wash as usual.

OR WHITE VINEGAR:
Using white vinegar once every 6 weeks will remove any detergent and fabric softener residue that has built up.
First, wash your towels on a normal wash with detergent. Then run a second wash cycle with 1 cup of white vinegar.

Separate your bath and face towel.

You should use a separate towel for your face, and another one to dry your body after a shower, due to bacteria transfer. The products you put on your body, such as fragrances and hair products, should not come in contact with your face - use a facecloth instead!

How to pick the perfect bath towel.

1. Consider the weight
Heavier, thicker towels offer the softness and absorbency any sensible person wants from a bath towel. The higher a towel's GSM (grams per square meter), the thicker it is. Our towels are between 380-650 GSM.

2. Look at the Material
We only have towels that are made from 100% African ring spun cotton.

3. Pick your Weave
We have towels with a weave that has tiny loops of twisted threads which makes them absorb water more quickly, or tight weave, which tends to be less absorbent than other styles, but it's durable, lightweight, and dries quickly.

4. Go bigger or smaller
A standard bath towel is large enough for a quick dry-off. Whereas a bath sheet is an alternative for more coverage and warmth.
