Guards Brigade Holds 2021 Inter-Unit Obstacle Crossing Competition
...As 176 Guards Battalion Emerges Winner In The Keenly Contested Exercise

Headquarters Guards Brigade, Nigerian Army was the cynosure of all eyes earlier today 30 July 2021 as the brigade held its annual Inter-Unit Obstacle Crossing Competition in line with its 2021 training cycle.

This year’s event which took place at the 7 Guards Battalion Obstacle Course, Lungi Barracks, Maitama, was a spectacle to behold as all the participating units came fully prepared for the competition as evident in the athletism, determination and skill on display.

In his remarks, the Commander Guards Brigade, Brigadier General Muhammed Takuti Usman commended all the participants for their commitment, dedication and zeal, and tasked them to remain disciplined, vigilant and diligent in the discharge of their responsibilities in line with the brigade motto “vigilance and sacrifice”. He thereafter urged them to sustain the aggressiveness and resilience exhibited throughout the competition, in their day-to-day activities at their respective units.

In a similar vein, the Special Guest of Honour for the occasion, the Chief of Training (Army), Major General AB Ibrahim, who was represented by the Acting Deputy Chief of Training - Training, Linkages and Integration, Brigadier General Oluyemi Olatoye, commended all the participants and urged them to maintain the high standards of discipline, team-work and determination exhibited during the competition.

At the end of the exercise, 176 Guards Battalion emerged winners, followed by 177 Guards Battalion in second place, 7 Guards Battalion in third place, 102 Guards Battalion in 4th place, and the Guards Brigade Garrison in 5th place.

DISCLAIMER: DISREGARD DOCTORED VIDEO AIMED AT DENIGRATING US - NIGERIAN ARMY
The Nigerian Army has urged Nigerians to disregard a trending video allegedly aimed at denigrating its personnel.
This was contained in a Press Released issued to newsmen earlier today in Abuja by the Director, Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu. The statement goes thus:
"The attention of the Nigerian Army (NA) has been drawn to a doctored video footage released by secessionist sympathisers on Youtube, featuring blurred images of some persons dressed in green camouflage destroying a farmland in an undisclosed location, recently."
"In an attempt to denegrate the reputation and image of the NA, authors of the video mischievously attributed the action of the persons to the military by falsely claiming they are soldiers and invariably personnel of the Nigerian Army. "
"However, following a fact finding investigation on the video by subjecting it to credible reverse image, it was discovered that the video was first published on YouTube channel "BIAFRA BOY" . The investigation also revealed that the image of the men in green camouflage was deliberately blurred to conceal their identity from viewers. Similarly the authors failed to identify the location, community, or Local Government Area the incident occured."
"Given these facts, it is apparent that the video footage is a deliberate propaganda by ESN to bring the reputation and image of the NA to disrepute by portraying personnel of the NA as enemies of the people. Members of the general public are please urged to be warry of such negative propaganda materials and subject them to thorough scrutiny. We therefore urge the public to please discountenance the propaganda video as it is the machination of mischief makers targeting the Nigerian military."
"We reassure the general public that the Nigerian Army will continue to operate professionally regardless of all divisive propaganda. We assure all peace loving Nigerians of our commitment to aid civil authorities in the containment of security challenges in line with constitutional provisions."
