Thousands don't know the secret behind the powerful ministry of Apostle Johnson Suleman. I will post an article once published by premium times that might give us a clue. Read this 👇
******Senior pastor and General Overseer of Omega Fire Ministries International, Apostle Johnson Suleman has narrated how he walked round Auchi, Edo State fasting, praying and blasting in tongues.
He said the foundation for the success of his ministry had been laid many years ago through incessant fasting and praying.
According to him, “When people come to stay in my house, my mother will tell them “buy your provisions. He doesn’t eat.”
“If you come to my house, my pots will be clean! Plantain will go rotten; they will carry it. Everything will go rotten; they will carry it. …Just praying in tongues without ceasing,” he added during a sermon.
Suleman said he wished he could be less busy again, as he missed those days, saying that “for some of you, all the time you have in your hands now, God is preparing you; just to groom (you).”
“I walked round Auchi for 40 days fasting. I went everywhere. From Warrake down to Prison Road, everyday on foot for 40 days, saying ‘I take this land. I take this land.’ Blasting in tongues. Forty days…
“You see what is happening today, and you see some young men coming to town, they want to play games to gather crowd. I am looking at them. There are the gatekeepers of the city,” he said.********
Apostle Johnson didn't wake up overnight and became a force in God's kingdom. Ten thousand times no! Many accused him of claiming falsely that Archbishop Benson Idahosa mentored him, in that God's Oracle began OFM in 2004, a full six years after the sudden death of Dr Benson Idahosa. But Apostle had been in the ministry since the early 1990s. Long before this time, he was fascinated by the burgoing ministry of Papa Idahosa.He was thrilled watching the mass crusades on television that Idahosa was holding around the world! And he was extremely hungry for God. So hungry that as a teenager, he read the Bible from cover to cover thrice, committing much of it to memory. I'd like to illustrate this fact with a testimony he shared.
He had been invited to preach in a huge conference. He was creating a buzz already at the time. He was aware the Archbishop was to preach later that day in that same event but he never imagined the Archbishop would attend his own session! That was what happened. Johnson Suleman knew the Bible so much that he set many a tongue wagging by going for programmes to minister without a physical Bible. He'd just quote his texts from memory and the youths were blown away by this prowess. All but the Archbishop that is. He asked to see Suleman and pelted him with harsh words " you are just showboating, preaching without a Bible. That is very foolish" Conceded Johnson was crestfallen by this well-meaning correction but he was happy to be corrected and till today, he never preaches without physically reading his texts from a literal Bible.
We see from this story that Johnson Suleman was very studious of the Bible. While working as an assistant pastor in Armor of God Church in Lagos from 1998, I believe he became exposed to the legendary stories from the ministry of the great Joseph Ayo Babalola. He spoke often of how much he was influenced by this man's life. This made Suleman more immersed in prayers and fastings. He spoke in tongues atimes for almost a full day praying for the glory of God. Some times he'd go for a fast for as long as 40 days thrice a year ( I mean daily fasts). It became a pattern
In all these things, God was preparing His servant for a mighty explosion. Even though he received his mandate in 1994, it took till 2004 before Suleman stepped into his own ministry. Meanwhile he was getting his eyes red with wine and his teeth white with milk....( More in our next post)
