ALLEGED: Okonkwo Threatens to Sue Obi, Lawyer Over ‘Defaced Gate’

New drama has been added to the Peter Obi vs Kenneth Okonkwo defamation case.

It’s been alleged that Kenneth Okonkwo is considering legal action against Mr. Peter Obi and his legal team. The reason? The manner court processes were served at his residence.

In photos circulating online, a bailiff/court official is seen tying documents to Okonkwo’s metal gate in , Nsukka, along Ofulonu Road.

Sources close to Okonkwo claim he views the act as “defacing his beautiful gate with trash papers” after the Anambra High Court granted substituted service on June 30, 2026. Justice D.A. Onyefulu had ordered the processes be pasted at NPR 48 Ofuluonu, Nsukka, after bailiffs said they couldn’t serve him personally.

*Reminder*: The suit *O/229/2026* is Obi’s N5bn defamation claim against Okonkwo over June 8, 2026 Channels TV _Sunrise Daily_ comments. Okonkwo had alleged Obi + NDC leaders demanded N10m from Reps aspirants. Obi’s lawyers called it “false, malicious and defamatory”.

BREAKING: Okonkwo Finally Served in Obi’s N5bn Defamation Suit

Actor-turned-politician Kenneth Okonkwo has been served with court processes in the defamation suit filed against him by Labour Party/NDC presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.

What happened:
After allegedly dodging personal service on several occasions, an Anambra State High Court, Onitsha, on June 30, 2026 granted Obi’s legal team leave for substituted service.

Justice D.A. Onyefulu ordered that the originating processes be pasted at Okonkwo’s last known address: NPR 48 Ofuluonu, Nsukka.

Reports confirm Okonkwo was served yesterday at his home in , Nsukka, along Ofulonu Road.

Background of the case
Obi is demanding N5 billion in damages + a public apology over statements Okonkwo made on Channels TV’s _Sunrise Daily_ on June 8, 2026.

Okonkwo had alleged that Obi and NDC South-East leaders demanded N10 million from House of Reps aspirants after nomination fees, and accused Obi of compiling candidate lists from a hotel room and “scamming” aspirants.

Obi’s lawyers, led by Alex Ejesieme SAN, described the claims as “false, baseless, malicious, reckless and defamatory”.

What’s next
With service now completed under Suit No. O/229/2026, Okonkwo is expected to enter an appearance and file his defense. If he fails to do so, the court may proceed to hear the matter in his absence.

Okonkwo has maintained his stance, releasing alleged WhatsApp chats he says back his claims.
