Measuring tape:
Every sewing process starts with a good measurements, on the body, patterns, and all to the main fabric, even while sewing and after a complete Garment is made.
Seam ripper :
It’s is used to loosening stitches. Main advantage is that it’s safer and faster to use compare to blades and others.
Tracing wheels:
It can be used to trace an already drafted pattern to another paper. Generally for pattern duplication.
Tailor’s chalk:
For marking on fabrics, sometimes you need to make a mark directly on your fabric when sewing. And when you do, you want to use a marking tool specially made for fabric. The most basic is the tailor’s chalk and others such as fabric pen, washable markers etc.
Scissors:
A pair of a really good scissors is what a tailor needs. Do not use your scissors on anything but fabrics. It will get dull quick if you do. All cuttings is done with a pair of scissors. Exact cutting of fabric pattern pieces is the first step in a successful sewing project! The better quality fabric scissors you can afford, the easier your cutting work will be. There are new inventions for cutting such as an electric cutter and machines.
Hand needles:
Basics used for making simple stitches and various embroidery. Hand sewing needles are identified by type and numbered by size; the larger the number, the smaller and finer the sewing needle. While advancing, there’s a needle threader.
*Needle Threader
These little tools are a must-have for threading the small eyes of some hand sewing needles. Needle threaders come in an endless variety of shapes and sizes, but they all have a small pointed wire at one end. The pointed wire fits through the eye of a needle and allows you to easily pull the thread through.
Pattern paper:
All forms of drafting and manipulations are done on the papers before transferring and cutting out on main fabric. The beautiful thing is that it can be reused, adjusted and serve as reference.
Smocking thread:
It can also be referred to as elastic thread. Use for different purposes such size control and fittings, designing and so on.
Sewing thread:
Match thread color as closely as possible to your fabric.
Paper tape:
Used mainly to hold pattern paper together.
Pencil&Eraser:
Pencils are used while drafting to make the various markings and points. Eraser on the other is used to eliminate any mistakes made on the papers.
Pin cushion and pins:
Sewing pins come in all different shapes, sizes, and types. The perfect pins for beginning sewing is the simple glass head pin. These pins are about average length, have a sharp point, and heads made of glass that will not melt if you accidentally forget to remove them before ironing your project. These pins will work well for most types of fabrics such as woven cottons, cotton blends, denim, fleece, felt, and so on. Pin cushions are used for easy and safe storage of the pins.
