DEAR LANDLORDS โผ๏ธโ ๏ธ
A house is built with blocks and cement,
but a home is built with peace.
Before you increase the rent, pause for a moment, and think about the family behind that door.
Remember the days when you also struggled. Remember when accommodation was beyond your reach.
Remember the nights you slept in crowded rooms, or moved from one place to another, searching for a roof over your head.
Do not let comfort erase your memories.
Life has never made a permanent promise to anyone. The tenant of today may become the landlord of tomorrow.
And the landlord of today may, by the decree of Allaah, become a tenant again.
Tables turn. Fortunes change. Wealth comes and goes. Life is a roller coaster; no condition remains forever.
So do not look down on those who rent today. Treat them with the kindness you would hope to receive if life were to exchange your positions tomorrow.
For the One who raises people can also lower them, and the One who gives can also take away. Remain humble, for humility survives every change of circumstance.
Not every tenant is lazy. Not every delay is irresponsibility. Many are fighting silent battles, working tirelessly, yet barely surviving.
And yes, you have the right to earn from your property. But every right should be guided by mercy. Profit should never bury compassion.
Fear Allaah in your dealings.
The wealth you earn is not judged only by its amount, but by how it was earned
and how it affected the lives of others.
Do not make your tenants choose between paying rent and feeding their children. Do not turn your house into a place of tears, supplications against oppression, and broken hopes.
Remember: โ ๏ธ
The world is temporary. No matter how many houses you build, you will one day leave every one of them behind.
The mansion, the duplex, the estate, the plaza; none of them will follow you.
In the end, you will be carried by others,
lowered into a room that has no luxury, no air conditioner, no security gate, no title deed. A room so narrow that it permits only one-sided sleep.

On that Day, your account books will not speak for you. Your rental agreements will not defend you. Only your deeds will remain.
So, if you must increase rent, let it be with justice. Let it be reasonable. Let it be considerate. Let it not become a burden too heavy for others to bear.
Sometimes, the Du'ฤ' of a relieved tenant
is worth far more than an extra few hundred thousand Naira.
Choose mercy, for mercy never impoverishes anyone. The Messenger of Allaah ๏ทบ said:

"Show mercy to those on the earth, and the One above the heavens will show mercy to you."

May Allaah make us people of justice, compassion, and mercy, and may He make our wealth a means of blessing in this world and salvation in the Hereafter. Aameen.
