Tailors / Fashion Designers Getting Tired, Discouraged Losing Passion and Joy.
Fashion and Design is a very sweet skill if You have well paying clients and also know your sewing Skill very well.
To those getting discouraged or tired, don't give up yet.
Why not sit down and analyze your customers(target audience)
We have two types of customers
1.price conscious customers
2.value conscious customers
Value conscious customers are the real deal.Analyze the customers you have or your audience, If truly you have the right target audience? .. This skill is a service based skill (you can chose who you want to serve or sew for) So target audience play an important role as a bespoke tailor.
Why not sit down and analyze your sewing skill, how good is your work and how do people
praise or commend your work?
Good work attracts clients (good clients who know value)
Put more effort on your work and see areas(upgrade) in which you can improve to get more clients.
Do you think environment is also discouraging you?
Well, environment to an extent affect business. So you can also work on environment if you wish to, but with the help of social media you can meet clients far and wide (outside your environment, state or outside the country).
Your state or environment (may be very dry state that survive with salary, farming and few business around) so cash flow is not like lagos, abj, ph or kano with other multiple streams of income...
but with the help of social media we can have clients in other part of the state and outside the country and thanks to DHL and other company to help send ur work out.
So why not make good use of social media handle to advertise your work.
Have you also looked around as a tailor to know what is trending around your area that you can sew and sell fast?
Everyone must not sew senator or corset or wedding gown to sell.
What about sewing boxers, street wears, school and security uniforms, medical uniforms like scrub n many more.
Do you have issues with pricing?
Pricing is another important thing in this sewing business. Most tailors are affected with the issue of pricing. Pricing is a busines side of fashion most tailors need to know.
We are in business to make profit and grow(anything aside this is slavery in disguise).
*Few tips on pricing*
Before you tell your client any price for any work.
Know the cost of making an outfit, then add your happy price and negotiation(some will definitely negotiate)
Let's say they wanna make a simple Senator top with embroidery and trouser

Expenses (5000)+Happy Price (8000)+Negotiation (4000)=17,000
Let's say he agree to pay 13,000......
After your expenses of 5000... Your happy price of 8000 is still in tact.
This will always make you to be happy and you'll be able to always share your money to three parts so you can grow in business.
We need to do well and also grow in business.
So work on your pricing.
Again, another way to attract customers is dressing.. If you don't have mannequin, be your own mannequin and model .. Sew neat, simple and catchy designs and Dress well as a fashion designer and trust me, you'll attract good customers.
If you don't have that body physique, tell your brother or sis or friend to be your model if they have that body.
This sewing Job is sweet and worth doing
This sewing not like employment job that they'll ask you who sent you or where is your recommendation letter? (though if you get that sewing connection thank God oh but the best person u can always pray for to be connected and get the right customers is Jehovah God)
And above all, if you are getting tired, discouraged and losing Joy.. You can take a little break and strategies and take time to think, pray and plan for better ways to enjoy them and make sure you apply
