Basic Steps:
Choose the right tool: Use a flexible, non-stretchy tape measure.
Stand comfortably: Stand up straight with feet together.
Take measurements: Take measurements at specific points on the body.
Common Measurements:
Bust/Chest: Measure around the fullest part, keeping the tape level.
Waist: Measure around the narrowest part, usually above the belly button.
Hips: Measure around the fullest part, about 7-9 inches below the waist.
Sleeve Length: Measure from the center back of the neck, over the shoulder, and down to the wrist.
Shoulder Width: Measure across the back, from one shoulder tip to the other.
Neck Circumference: Measure around the base of the neck.
Upper Arm Circumference: Measure around the fullest part of the upper arm.
Wrist Circumference: Measure around the wrist bone.
Thigh Circumference: Measure around the fullest part of the thigh.
Knee Circumference: Measure around the knee, with the leg straight.
Height: Measure from the top of the head to the heels.
DO
- Take measurements snugly but not too tightly.
- Use a mirror to ensure the tape is level.
- Take multiple measurements to ensure accuracy.
- Measure at the same time of day for consistency.
- Record your measurements for future reference.
DON'T
- Don't pull the tape too tight or too loose.
- Avoid measuring over clothing or bulky accessories.
- Don't take measurements when slouching or leaning.
- Don't rely on a single measurement; take multiple readings.
- Don't forget to breathe naturally while taking measurements.
