YOUR CLOTHES ARE ALSO YOUR WORK TOOLS

Over the years, I have spent so much investing in my work tools.

Some people may look at it and think, “Why not just relax and spend on enjoyment?”

But the truth is, some things must come first before others can follow.

I’ve come to understand something important: FIRST SPEND ON YOUR WORK TOOLS before spending on yourself.

For many professionals, clothes are not just fashion. They are work tools.

Yes, they are.

When you constantly appear before people, your appearance becomes part of what makes them invite you over and over again. Of course, you also have to be good at what you do.

If you are:
A public speaker
A business owner
A media personality
A master of ceremony
A comedian
A teacher
A lecturer
A pastor
A celebrity
Etc.

The clothes you wear are not just clothes for show, they are your work tools. You cannot afford to be casual about them.

In fact, if you have to save money to get your work clothes, then do it. VERY IMPORTANT!

In many careers and businesses, how you present yourself matters.

That well-tailored outfit is not always about luxury.

Sometimes, it is preparation. Sometimes, it is branding. Sometimes, it is positioning. It is marketing.

The same way people invest in laptops, cameras, office spaces, or equipment, you also need to invest in how you look because appearance can open doors for you, shape perception, and strengthen your confidence.

Not every clothing purchase is for fashion alone.

Sometimes, it is part of the work.

At Bisi International Fashion, we don’t just make clothes.

We help professionals dress for purpose, confidence, and opportunity.

LOOK AT THIS. Yesterday, I asked a question: “Why don’t you wear a suit?” I got an answer that said, “Heat dey quick worry me.”

This is a reasonable answer, no doubt. But let me talk about the answer. Truly, in a warm climate like Nigeria, putting on a suit can seem not quite appropriate. That’s one.

Two, some people sweat more than other people. I believe you will agree with me on this, right? Some people step outside for five minutes and they are already uncomfortable, while others can manage it better. So yes, body type and how your system responds to heat plays a big role.

Now, here is the truth: most times, the problem is not the suit. Let me share with you what you need to know.

1. THE MATERIAL FOR THE SUIT MATTERS

There is something called breathable fabrics. These kinds of fabrics are made in such a way that they allow air to flow, making them far more comfortable in hot weather. Not all fabrics are suitable for our kind of weather. Some materials trap heat and make you feel suffocated within minutes. When you choose the right fabric, you will notice a big difference in how you feel throughout the day.

2. YOU DON’T NEED TO WEAR THREE-PIECE

You don’t necessarily need to wear your waistcoat when it is extremely hot. You can go for a simple two-piece or even use a light blazer instead. Dressing smart does not always mean layering everything at once. Sometimes, less is actually better, especially in this weather. The goal is to look good and still feel comfortable.

3. THE MATERIAL THE LINING IS MADE OF

We often make sure the inner lining of the jacket is one that is suitable for our weather. Many people overlook this part, but it is very important. A heavy or poorly chosen lining can make even the best suit uncomfortable. A lighter, breathable lining helps reduce heat and improves overall comfort.

4. USE ROLL-ON OR BODY CREAM THAT DOESN’T GENERATE HEAT

Some people haven’t realised that apart from their body generating heat, the body cream they use also generates heat and makes them sweat more. Certain products can clog pores or create a warm layer on the skin. Choosing lighter products can help you stay fresh for longer. It’s a small change, but it makes a big difference.

5. THE COLOUR OF THE JACKET ALSO MATTERS

Dark colours absorb heat, while lighter colours reflect heat and keep you cooler throughout the day. This is why you feel hotter in black than in beige or light grey. Your colour choice can affect your comfort more than you think. So, being intentional with colour can help you stay stylish and comfortable at the same time.

Yes, heat is a reality, but that doesn’t stop you from wearing a suit.

At BIF, we put all these into consideration and design suits and blazers that take into cognisance our environment.

WHY WON'T YOU WEAR A SUIT?
Tell me your reason.

I sew this exactly 4 years ago. If you still put it on today, in 2026, you'll still look trendy and take away. Haha.

Your dressing can determine your mood throughout the day. What you wear can quietly determine how you feel.

Have you ever noticed how some outfits make you feel bold, while others make you want to hide That’s not a coincidence. It does actually.

Dressing is not just about appearance, it affects your mood, your confidence, and how you show up in the world.

When you dress well:
You feel more prepared. You carry yourself differently. You step into your day with intention.

And when you don’t feel good in what you’re wearing, it can reflect in your energy, your posture, even your interactions.

At Bisi International Fashion, we believe style is a form of self-expression and self-respect.

So before you step out today, ask yourself:
“How do I want to feel?”

And today is Monday, dress like it.

Because the right outfit doesn’t just change your look, it changes your mood.

I want you to have a confident Monday and a happy week. Dress happy, please.

Celebrities can wear anything and get away with it.

The same outfit that would raise eyebrows on an average person can become celebrated when worn by a celebrity.

Why is that so?

First, VISIBILITY plays a major role.

Celebrities are constantly in the public eye. Every appearance is documented, analysed, and amplified.

When they step out in an unusual outfit, it is not just clothing, it becomes a conversation. And in fashion, conversation often translates to more publicity for celebrities.

Second, CONFIDENCE changes everything.

Many celebrities wear clothes with a level of confidence that makes the outfit itself acceptable.

What might look odd on someone else suddenly appears intentional and stylish. This is something people often overlook.

Another factor is INFLUENCE.

Celebrities are trendsetters.

Designers create fashion pieces with them in mind, knowing that once a celebrity wears it, others will follow.

Over time, what once seemed strange begins to feel normal, even desirable.

But here is the main lesson about what celebrities wear: they understand identity, branding, and presence.

They wear what aligns with the image they want to project, and they do so unapologetically.

So what does this mean to you who is not a celebrity?

• The goal is not to copy what celebrities wear.

• The goal is to understand what works for you and apply that principle to your own style.

• Wear clothes that reflect who you are.

• Wear them with confidence.

• Know that you also have a brand as a person.

At Bisi International Fashion BIF, we believe style is not reserved for celebrities.
