By evening, I was already exhausted. I managed to bathe my kids, then fiam to the kitchen. No time for serenren.

Garri in bowl, soup inside plate, no time to dey find wetin no lost, straight to the floor.

Dear wig stylists, before you revamp that wig, please assess it first.

A client recently brought some wigs to me for revamping. Usually, before I start working on any wig, I check the general condition of the hair, especially the closure or frontal.

Fortunately for me, I did the same with these wigs.

While checking one of them, I noticed that the closure was shedding just from combing it.

I looked more closely and realised that the knots were visibly loose. From what I could see, the closure was most likely ventilated using a single-knotting technique.

I made a video showing the condition of the closure and sent it to the client.

Chai! I had just escaped potential trouble. 😅

Imagine if I hadn't checked.

Imagine if I had simply collected the wig, washed it and started the revamp process.

With the knots already that loose, putting the closure through washing and further manipulation could have caused even more strands to come out, leaving noticeable bald areas.

This experience reminded me why, as stylists, we shouldn't be in too much of a hurry to start working on a client's wig.

Assess the wig first.

And when you notice something, document and communicate with your client before you proceed.

Holiday gist.

During our last visit to Grandma’s house the holidays that just ended, Grandma served me a bowl of pap and a plate of fried plantains with some chicken meat.

Looking at the food, I told her, “Mummy, this meat is much. I don’t think I can finish it.”

D***h, who loves chicken laps, was nearby and immediately offered me some very helpful advice.

“Mummy, if the food is much, just finish your pap and leave the meat.”

😂😂😂

Of course, I knew exactly where that advice was coming from.

So I laughed and told her, “No D***h, I'll eat the chicken and plantain. I'll leave the pap for you.”

My baby was shocked and confused.

“Mummy, no! You shouldn’t finish the meat. Finish the pap!”

"No o. Let me leave the pap for you because this meal is too much."

"No mummy, Just finish your pap, okay mummy? If it's too much just finish your pap and leave the rest."

Me: 😏😏😆

D***h, better luck next time. I have been on this earth longer than you😸

And just like that, school runs have resumed! To all the mums whose children are resuming school today, I greet you. ❤️

The school drop-offs and pick-ups are back, the morning rush is back, and somehow we are all expected to wake up and function like we didn't just spend the last few weeks enjoying a slower pace.

For me, yesterday was a lot.

I had travelled for a week and only returned on Saturday night. So Sunday was basically my only chance to get D***hima ready for school.

Usually when she is commencing a new class, I like her to begin with them on the first day so it's easier for her to settle in.

So, I had to get her school things in order, wash her school bag and shoes, sort out and iron her uniforms, trim her nails, and then, of course, do her hair.

All of that had to happen in one day, while I was still trying to recover from my trip and attend to the other things that needed my attention at home.

By evening, I was tired o. 🥱🫩

But somehow, we got everything done.

And this morning, there she was, dressed and ready for school.

My baby has resumed a new class. ❤️

I was actually quite happy seeing her leave this morning. It felt good to know that despite how hectic yesterday was, we made it.

So, to all the mums whose children are resuming today, well done!

Whether you prepared everything weeks ago or, like me, practically had a full “back-to-school operation” on Sunday , we made it to today.

Here's to a beautiful new school term for our children. May they learn, grow, make good friends and have a wonderful time💕

PS: we didn't get to take a picture this morning o. So this one will have to serve 😀
