I saw a post today that said:
"After you state your price, keep quiet."
And honestly, I think a lot of us crocheters need to hear that!
A customer asks how much a sweater costs.
You say:
"The sweater is ₦85,000."
Then immediately start adding:
"The yarn was expensive..."
"It took me weeks to make..."
"It's actually a lot of work..."
"I can even reduce it a little for you..."
Meanwhile, the customer hasn't even said anything yet 😂
You've already started defending the price before they've had a chance to react. And sometimes, that quietly communicates doubt in your own value.
I think this is something a lot of crocheters struggle with because we're so used to hearing, "Why is it so expensive?"
Even at that, let them respond first. Don't get worked up or start explaining before you've even given them a chance to process the price 😂
State your price and give people room to respond.
What do you think? 🤔
