TAILORS, THIS IS WHY CLIENTS DON’T RESPECT YOUR PRICES. 📌
Sometimes, the problem is not that your clients don’t have money.
The problem is that you have taught them not to take your prices seriously.
Today you say sewing is ₦20,000.
The client says, “Ah ah, tailor, reduce it now.”
Immediately, you say, “Okay, bring ₦15,000.”
They complain again.
“Okay, just pay ₦12,000.”
What do you think will happen the next time that client comes?
They will negotiate again because they already know that your first price is not really your price.
And this is where many talented fashion designers get it wrong.
Your price should not come from fear of losing a customer.
It should come from understanding what it actually costs you to run your business and make a profit.
Your fabric, thread, electricity, transportation, machine maintenance, finishing materials, packaging, your time and your skill all cost money.
If you don't understand your numbers, you will keep reducing your prices just to get customers — and at the end of the month, you will be busy but still wondering:
“Where did all the money go?”
Being busy is not the same as being profitable.
Before you defend your price confidently, you need to understand how you arrived at that price in the first place.
And that is one of the things I will be teaching in my upcoming class.
Beautiful sewing can bring customers.
But understanding the business side of fashion is what helps you build a profitable business.
Tailors, have you ever reduced your price because you were afraid the client would walk away?
