Some pieces begin long before the fabric is cut.

When we started working with Dr. Iyabo Obasanjo, the brief was clear — but deeply intentional.

She wanted something simple.
Something the women she hoped to lead could see themselves in.
And something rooted in culture.

That meant restraint. Not excess.
Clarity. Not noise.

We explored different silhouettes, searching for a form that could carry both presence and accessibility.

We arrived at a reimagined version of our Gemini Tunic — interpreted as a flowing Boubou.

Crafted in deep blue and emerald green, the piece was designed to feel grounded, familiar, and quietly powerful.

Because sometimes, the most impactful statement…
is the one that doesn’t need to speak loudly.

Zakai is not just worn.
It is considered.

This year we’re opening up our process from fabric to finished pieces. We are returning to intention and the craft that grounds our work. We invite you to witness the work as it unfolds.

This season, we are exploring through careful experimentation with fabric, dye and form to give our women clothes that tell a story that transcend generations.
