My parents were not denying me fashion, they were protecting me from chasing validation. I thought trends defined beauty and that my worth is tied to it. But little did I know that my parents were training me that trends expire but my self worth shouldn't.

Dressing differently is not a disadvantage. If someone had told me this earlier, I would have embraced it instead of fighting it.

Not having trendy outfits forced me to be creative with what I have and helped me develop confidence from the inside, not the clothes

And today, that foundation makes my style stronger.
