30/06/2025

Every spring, when the cherry trees bloom in the tiny hilltop village of Windgrove, the children gather by the old stone bench under the lantern tree to hear a tale from Miss Lila, the village’s oldest resident. She’s small and sprightly, with silver hair like moonlight and eyes that crinkle when she smiles.

This year, she begins with a twinkle in her voice:
"Do you know why we light lanterns every spring? Let me tell you a story—not just about how we survived... but how we learned to love this place."

She tells them about a time long ago when the village was young and struggling after a long winter. Everyone was tired, food was low, and spirits even lower. One night, a little boy named Toma noticed that the stars didn’t seem to shine anymore—at least not over their village. So he made a tiny paper lantern and hung it from a stick, walking door to door to share its light.

What began as one lantern became many. Families joined together, creating a glowing path through the dark. It didn’t bring food or warmth, but it brought smiles, music, laughter—and most importantly, hope. From that night on, the people of Windgrove realized that even the smallest acts of kindness can light up the hardest days.

Your Story Goal:
Write Miss Lila’s tale about young Toma and how his simple act of kindness helped lift the village’s spirit. Add sweet and gentle details—a favorite song, the scent of blooming trees, the way laughter echoed in the quiet hills. Show how the people found more than survival—they found joy, together.

Let the story end with the children lighting their own lanterns, ready to pass on the warmth.
